Ball Mastery + 1v1 Moves (30 mins)

Ball Mastery/1v1 moves/1v1's Channel

Set-up: several 12 x 15 Grids. 4 players per grid.

I. Ball Mastery + 1v1 Moves: 4 players dribble in their rectangle and perform exercises.

- bells, toe taps, 3xpush-3xpull, sole across, pull-push, sole behind, sole - V. Sole-V-over, outside cut/solebehind drag, cruyff/sole behind.

- cut unders, scissors, overs, the hops, shoulder drops

Coaching Point: teach them to explode after they perform move, use shoulder feints

II. Avoiding Collisions Game: 2 pairs of players with one ball per pair.

Rules:

First player from each pair has to dribble around opposite "same color cone" and dribble back to start position and give partner their ball. They have to dribble with their head up and avoid colliding with each other.

III. 1v1 Channel Game

- 1 defender in middle and 2 attackers on one end and then other on opposite end.

- attackers score by dribbling ball over the line.

- defender has one minute to see how many times they win the ball. One player from the attacking team take turns attacking the middle defender.

- If attacker scores or if ball is played out then attacker on opposite end starts dribbling and trying to score on opposite endline.

IV. 2v1 Game

- 2 attacking players have 90 seconds, to score as many times as possible. Then switch roles.

Coaching Points: Attackers should be getting past 8 out of 10 times.

V. 3v1 Keep away with transition.

First to 5 points win.

-Offensive team scores by completing 5 passes. (olders). 3 for youngers.

-Defender scores by intercepting the ball, ball leaving the area, offensive team not calling name of person they are passing to (all 1 point)

-Defender can also score by dribbling out of on of the sides to score 2 points.

Progression: 2 touch max.

Coaching Points: Offensive players must always ***receive ball across body with hips open to the field (when is the only time not to? if defender is on you, what can you do?) What is your response when you lose the ball? Need to close down immediately and win ball back and try to keep possession. What should supporting players be doing? No one should ever be standing. Constant adjustments in their movements.

*** needs to be stressed every session, whenever we don't see it happening, we need to address it. Building block of TIC (Technical Inisght Communication).

Crossing and Finishing (15 mins)

Crossing and Finishing:

1) First player in middle line dribbles out and shoots on goal.

2) Second player in middle line completes wall-pass with first player and then shoots.

3) Player on right, dribbles down line and cross ball to the two players who just shot.

4) Player on left dribbles down line and crosses ball.

Progression of crosses: Start off with all crosses on the ground ot either near post or 45 degree ball. Then crosses can be lifted to far post.

Rotation: Once balls are retrieved, the two outside players come to the middle and the two inside players go outside.

Coaching Points: All of this has to be done at a high intensity. Middle players, need to recycle their runs and be purposeful with their runs. One should be arriving near when ball gets there and one should be going far or pk spot. Can you be deceptive with your runs? Are arriving on time or too early? Are crossers accelerating at full speed?

*Competition: Need to score 10 goals in 2 minutes.

4v2 Positional Game (15 mins)

4v2 Positional Game

Set-up:

Two cone goals 12 yards wide

Grid: Half of full size pitch

7 players: 2 v 2 with 2 neutral players on wings and a GK

Rules

- After GK passes the ball towards one of his 4 attackers (2 defenders and 2 neutral wide players) they develop a postional attack until they are able to score by dribbling through cone goals.

- If defending players win the ball then they can attack to goal and the two neutral wide players now become on their team.

Scoring:

- 1 point for team playing out of the back if they dribble through cone goals

- 2 points if two defenders win the ball and score on big goal.

- first to 8 points. Restarts with GK.

Variation #1 (B): place another two cone goals (12 meters wide) 25 meters from the regulation goal. When attackers score in either of the middle goals they must finish the move in the opposite goal (2 points) or in the goal on the same side (1 point).

Objective: 8 of 10 attacks should result in a point for offensive team

Learning Objectives: knowing how to exploit the least defended areas by passing intelligently and by making effective runs off the ball, in order to take advantage of the space with good decision making and quick thinking. Usually best area of the pitch to exploit are those opposite to where the ball is, whether that is lengthways or width ways.

U9&U10's: Need to have TWO games going for each age group. No standing around.

U11's&U12's: Must have two and maybe three games going.

Coaching Points: Secure possession of the ball without risking losing it. This is achieved by the excellent distribution of the four attackers throughout the pitch and by keeping the play simple. keep changing positions to drag defenders out of the required zone.
