receiving the ball to shoot (20 mins)

Drill-

3 lines - even out the players

Line 3- players makes a diagonal pass across to player 1, player 1 takes a touch dribbles to goal and shoots with their left foot after they shoot they come back towards line 2 and acts as a passive defender.

Line 2- dribbles out and attacks the defender, they then makes a move ( fake and take, scissors etc) to get by the defender and shoot. Alternate shooting foot- if you go right the first time next time make your move going to the left and shoot with your lrft foot.

Line 1- players makes a diagonal pass across to player 3, player 3 takes a touch dribbles to goal and shoots with their right foot.

Progression 1

-Player 1 can either go inside"B" and shoot with their R or L foot. Example player 1 passes to player 3 his first touch is inside and shoots with his L foot, When player 3 passes to player 1 his 1 st touch is inside and shoots with his R foot.

Progression 2-

-Coach in black can act as a passive defender moving from Line 1 to Line 3, coach can position himself to force the attacker either to his left or right foot. This is game realistic which makes the attacking player think what they will doing based on the positioning of the defender.

Coaching points-

- angle of approach 45 degree angle

- part of the ball- middle

-good positive first touch to set up your shot

- partof the foot- laces

- lean over the ball head down

- folllow through with your leg and should end up facing the goal

- lines 1 and 3 try to goal across goal( far post)

Movement off the ball (20 mins)

Set up

3 cones, bunch of balls

Drill

-on coaches command "GO", players make opposite runs, midfielder plays a pass into the closest player, the player receives the ball dribbles to goal and has a shot. Second bliue player follows up on the play for any rebounds.

Once first pairs are done the next two players come in quickly

Coaching Points-

-proper angle of approach

-attack with speed generate more power

-part of the foot ( laces)

-part of the ball (middle)

-lean over the ball

-non kicking foot placement ( close to the ball)

-follow through towards the goal

Once first pairs are done the next two players come in quickly

- once the ball is played the defender comes out to defend

-attacker must make a decision

a) if defender doesn't get out fast enough can you get the shot off

b) if defender comes out quickly can you take on the defender 1vs1 or can you make a pass to second forward who is making a run to support

- If defender wins the ball he can attack either of the goals and shoot to score

Second bliue player after checking away makes a run across goal to receive the pass in stride, takes one touch and has a shot on goal.

Once first pairs are done the next two players come in quickly

Second striker lays the ball off for the first strilker who is making a forward , he takes one touch and has a shot on goal.

Second striker follows up for any rebounds.

Strikers movement 2 (20 mins)

Set up

3 cones, bunch of balls

Drill

-on coaches command "GO", first striker makes a run towards midfielder at the same time second make his runs towards the midfielder the second striker receives the ball from the midfielder That first strikers spins away to support the the ball. Second striker lays the ball off for the first strilker who is making a forward , he takes one touch and has a shot on goal.

Second striker follows up for any rebounds.
