Thirds Defending - Recovering (30 mins)

Thirds Defending - Recovering

3 attacker, 3 defender, 1 gk per pitch set up like above. Attackers have to pass the ball through the defenders to the attacker who looks to score. The green defender acts as the recovery defender to put pressure on the attacker. If the defendrs win the ball they attack the small goals.

Coaching Points: Restricting passing lanes, body posiition, recovery runs, counter attacking

Adaptations:

1) If it is too easy for the attacking team put the recoery defender in the final zone to play 1 v 1 against the attacker and then one defender can become the recovery player.

2) Put a defender by the goal to close the attacker down when they take their first touch

3) If the defenders win the ball the attacker in the final zone can act as a recovery defender
