Body Parts without Ball (10 mins)

SET UP:

- In the area players are consantly moving around, performing different actions; running, hopping, jumping etc.

- The coach will then call a body part and players must quickly pair up and touch that body part with a partner, can be groups of three if odd numbers.

KEY POINTS:

- Encourage changes of direction

- Allow for as many different movements as possible

- Create harder challenges as warm up continues

- Don't allow players to pair with the same person twice

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

- Call multiple body parts

- Give two instructions. e.g: standing on one leg, left hand.

Body Parts with Ball (20 mins)

SET UP:

- Have players moving around area with their ball, using different parts of the foot to manipulate the ball

- On coach's instruction, players have to stop the ball with that body part

KEY POINTS:

- Players need to take small touches and have full control of the ball

- Players need to use different parts of their foot and both feet

- Get players to dribble with their head up

POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

- Introduce different areas in the box with cones, then on instruction every player must perform the body part movement there.

- Instead of calling it, coach points to their own body part so players dribble with their head up

- Last person to react has to do a five second juggle

- Players complete the task in pairs:

- If the coach calls knee, players must communicate with a partner to stop, leave one ball and touch both of their knees on one of the balls in the pair.

- Introduce different ball manipulations and skill moves, using the body part instruction to stop and move on to next skill etc.
