Ghostbusters (10 mins)

Organization:

All Players inside the grid with a soccer ball

Coaches with soccer ball in their hands

Instructions:

-Coaches are Ghostbusters trying to catch all the Ghosts (Players)

-Ghosts must try to dribble away from the Ghostbusters, who look to throw their soccer ball and hit the Ghost's ball

-If a Ghost is caught by a Ghostbuster, they must perform touches (toe touches, happy feet, etc) before they can play again

Coaching Points:

-Ghosts must keep their ball safe from the Ghostbusters

-Head up to see where the Ghostbuster is

-Turn away from pressure to protect the ball and accelerate into open space

-Dribble into open space where there are no Ghostbusters

Progressions:

Half the kids are Ghosts, half are Ghostbusters

-If a ghost is hit by a ghostbuster, the two switch roles

Main-Theme (Turns) (15 mins)

Organization:

-Players work in 10 x 25 yard channels with a 10 x 5 turning zone, players in groups of 3

Instructions:

-In the line with more players the first player in line starts dribbling, when they reach the far end of the turning zone they complete turn #1, when they dribble back towards their starting point they reach the far line of the turning zone and complete turn #2, after completing this turn they pass to their awaiting teamate and follow their pass to the end of the line.

TURNS---

Review: Inside Cut

Introduce: Outside Cut

Coaching Points:

1) Small touches pinkey toe messi while dribbling

2) Head up to observe surroundings

3) Speed of execution

4) Realism of turn--feint, fake shot pass etc, sell the turn

Progressions:

P-Make it a race between groups

1v1 Turns (15 mins)

Organization:

- 20x25 area

- four small goals

Instructions:

- defender passes through attackers feet, and play begins

- 1v1, attacker must (turn) and attack near goals

- defender may counter

Coaching Points:

- can we use a feint to create space

- (check our shoulder) turn if unopposed when reaching ball

Progressions:

- Add a neutral on opposite side player can use to play off of and bring into play

- Add a 2nd defender thats delayed 4 seconds (to encourage positive/quick play)

Free Play (15 mins)

Organization & Instructions:

Play 3v3/4v4 using age appropriate goals (no GK's) in a 20x30/25x35 yard area.

Restarts are always made from the coach who has as many balls as possible around him, if the ball goes out a new game ball is immediatelyplayed in.

The game is continuous (no stoppages for throw ins, corners etc.) until the players need a water break or the coach runs out of balls.

Coaching Points:

- Are players picking their head up?

- Is their ball under control when dribbling?

- Are they having fun?

- Understanding where the boundaries?
