Attacking patterns 1 and 1a (20 mins)

Setup:

Half field

10 players in 4-3-3 formation

Activity:

Players move ball around with no defenders. After good ball movement they try to create one of the patterns:

1) Outside back plays wing and overlaps; Winger plays outside back into space for cross

1a) Outside back plays wing and overlaps; Winger plays into CM who plays into back for cross (see diagram)

After each shot, players sprint to press the player position that the coach calls out ("#2" would mean they sprint to the right back as if to press)

Coaching Points:

~ Timing of movement

~ #7/11 losing marker

~ #8/10 timing, angle and distance of showing inside

~ Runs in the box -- move opposite the ball
