Warm Up (20 mins)

WU:

Warm Up

•Players jump up in pairs, shoulder to shoulder

•Get player to form a defensive wall

•Perform groin stretch

•Shoulder to shoulder resistance drill

•Tight circle jogging then sprint out 10 yards, repeat (fish in a pond)

•Tight circle use your arms to hold off players (iron bars)

•Player jump up in pairs, give each other a “high five” like they scored the best goal ever

Warm Up with Ball

One bounce over head and catch thru legs

One bounce behind back and catch on other side

Juggle & spin 180 - sombrero

Juggle & forward roll

Partner - Behind the back and get back between the legs

Trunk Twists

Roll ball while sitting straight legged

15 min

Groups of 9/10

Pair tag with the ball

20x20 grid

Get tagged and be "it"

7v7 Ultimate Soccer (20 mins)

Intervals:

3 min game + 1 min rest x 6 games = 24 min

Setup:

3 teams of 6

2 GK

Activity:

2 teams play ultimate soccer.

3rd team on endlines, can be used as bumpers.

Rules:

Not allowed to run with the ball.

Can only score off header.

No defenders allowed in 6 yard box (only GK).

1 attacker can enter box, but limited to 1 second.

Defending in 4's SSG (30 mins)

Intervals:

3 min work + 1 min rest x 6 games = 24 min

Setup:

3 teams of 6

50x25 grid split in half (25x25 in each half) with 4 lanes

Activity:

All players stuck in their half.

Defenders should stay in their lanes.

Attacking team moves ball around and tries to play penetrating pass into attackers behind defense.

2 Attacking players must complete one pass before scoring in small goals.

Coaching Points:

~ Checking shoulder to see where attacker is

~ Recovering to deny dangerous space/split after ball is played square

~ Immediate recovery if ball breaks the defensive line

Throw-in Stations (20 mins)

Setup: 3 teams of 6

A) Deep in defending 1/3

1) Winger & CM lose mark

2) Ball thrown to chest or 1-time volley back to thrower or CB

3) Long ball into #9

B) In midfield

1) Winger & CM lose mark

2) Ball thrown to chest or 1-time volley back to thrower or CB

3) Switch play through CB's

C) In attacking 1/3

1) Winger loses mark (CM clears out so that's it 2v2)

2) Throw to winger for give and go

3a) square ball for 1-time shot

3b) diagonal ball to far post

Pressing in 4-4-2 (30 mins)

Setup:

Attacking team in 1-4-3-2

Defending team in 0-3-4-2

Activity:

Ball starts with attacking team (also free kicks, kick off, throw ins) and they try to score be getting ball into GK hands or feet.

Defending team tries to win ball and score in big goal.

Coaching Points:

~ Line of confrontation at 70%

~ Invite play to their outside backs and then press

~ Counter quickly if win ball in attacking half (try to get a shot in under 10 seconds)
