Quick play with numbers up

Team Learning Objectives

- Breaking quickly to goal

- Finding the spare man

Session Organisation

How to Play

- GK plays out to reds (attacking team) who play 3v1 in front area before breaking to play 3v2+GK in back area

- If blues (defenders) win the ball the can counter (through any area) to the small goal. Also, the spare blue player can join in to aid the counter while the spare red player can enter to help defend the counter and possibly spring another counter attack in the other direction

- Once possession is dead the 4 players on each team rotate rolls

- After a set time period reds and blues switch positions

Challenges:

- Eliminate defenders with a pass or a dribble

- Find the spare player quickly and move ahead to support

Tranisitional Rondo

How to Play

- Blue team retain possession (can use GKs). Ball cannot go to the #9 unless it has been through a central player

- Upon #9 receiving the ball they become the #5 and the direction/roles change

-Reds try to win the ball back and break on either goal, with the #5/#7/#11 able to recover

Progressions

- Allow central red players to recover

- Rotate reds and blues

Challenges:

- TRY TO... 

- Break quickly upon winning possession

- React to the moment of transition and exploit vacant spaces left by the opposition

- Keep the ball moving forwards (or diagonally if it cannot travel forwards)

How to Play

Game 1

- Normal game, but on coach blowing the whistle the player on the ball must stop it dead, retreat and allow the other team to take a free-kick

Game 2

- Normal game, a goal counts as 1 but if all team mates are in the attacking half (bar the GK) a goal counts as 5

Game 3

- Normal game, with teams looking to counter when possible
