The course is made up of six pairs of parallel cones, approximately 6 yards apart. Two players start at

the same time from the first pair of cones, jog along the inside of the cones and do the various exercises on the way. After the last cone, they run back along the outside. On the way back, speed

can be increased progressively as players warm up.

1. Jog through 5 times

2. Hip out (groin movement) - 2 sets

3. Hip in (groin movement) - 2 sets

4. Circle partner - 2 sets

5. Jumping with shoulder contact - 2 sets

6. Quick forward and backwards sprints - 2 sets

7. 75% Jog through - 2 sets

1 v 3 Dirbbling Game (15 mins)

Setup:

In groups of 4 or 5. Four gates that are 4-5 yards apart. are set-up. Gates are across from each other. The space between the gates is room for the attacker to dribble back into the grid. Balls are positioned in between the gates, outside the grid.

How It Works:

Player with ball is trying to dribble through as many gates as possible in 45 seconds, each time is 1 point. There are 4 gates and 3 defenders so there is always an open gate.

The attacker always has to come from between the gates and not through it when coming back in. Defenders have to transition quickly to stop easy points.

Allow players multiple tries.

Defender Restrictions:

Defenders cannot kick the ball away from the attacker in the middle of the grid or as they are dribbling into the grid. Defenders can only kick the ball when the attacker is within 1 yard of a gate. (Imagine a circular line that goes around the inside the grid, 1 yard inside the gates- defenders can kick the ball once the attacker goes outside of the circle.)

Keys:

1. 1st touch into space

2. Dribble with far foot

3. Use fakes in covered direction to open up more space. (You will see players trying to score in guarded gates).

4. Change of direction/change of pace.

5. Keep eye on ball and defender

6. Confidence in your move/ability

Touch Step Dribbling with Moves (20 mins)

Set up:

Line cones are 8-10 yards away from cone defender. The defender cones are set up in a diamond- players should visualize defender is standing on line with 3 cones but as attacker approaches defender, defender will step up so move should be done 2 yards before closest cone. No more than 3 players per grid.

Wide cones are wide to encourage players to touch the ball wide enough because too often players don't hit the ball far enough wide.

How it Works:

Players will start on same side (not on opposite sides), we want attackers not worrying about timing move at same time but rather do move as quickly as possible. We want players to touch step every step.

Players will perform following move:

a. scissor (1. Touch step right before move 2. Drop shoulder as you scissor, 3.Touch out wide, more wide then forward)

b. Fake Take (1. Drop shoulder sideways 2. Touch out wide, more wide then forward)

c. Fake Take Hop (1.Hop sideways on support leg while dropping shoulder 2.

d. Scissor Fake Take (1. Scissor with one leg 2. Step out with other leg)

e. Iniesta (Ball is one side of body, Hit across quickly with inside toe part of foot, Ball is hit wide, Other foot reaches and touches ball forward)

f. Any move (allow players to be creative)

Keys:

1. Touch step and keep ball close

2. Bend knees and back

3. Attack with speed/ Do move 2-3 yards before defender.

4. Believe in your move.

5. Touch it wide and forward

6. Accelearate after move.

1 v 1 Transition Game (30 mins)

Set Up:

Goals are 20 yards apart (can use small goals with no goalkeepers). One team is lined up beside one goal and the other is lined up beside the other. Each player in line has a ball.

How It Works:

Attacker comes out against defender waiting. Attacker is trying to beat defender 1 v 1 and finish. Once the attacker loses the ball or shoots then the attacker becomes a defender with a new attacker coming out. Defender goes to back of line after sequence. If attackers stop going forward or slow to make the attack unrealistic then end the sequence.

Keys:

1. Attack with speed

2. Keep eyes on ball and defender

3. Believe in your move

4. Accelerate after move

5. Adjust if defender recovers

King's Court (25 mins)

Set Up:

36 yards length, with sideline just brought inside box line. We want the line brought in so that players still have shooting opportunities when wide. Balls in the goal.

How it Works:

3 teams of 5 players are made. Goalkeepers are in goal, if only 1 goalkeeper then player resting can be in goal.

Play 3-4 minute games where players are in close in a tight area requiring them to perform a move to create a shot. Since the goals are so close, players can perform moves and create chances right away.

Winning team stays on.

Keys (General: Depth, Width, Improvisation, Mobility, Penetration):

1. Attack open space

2. Set up fake to space covered so that open space can become bigger

3. Attack with speed

4. Believe in your move and accelerate

5. Do move 2-3 yards before defender.
