Objective:

To develop the basic technique of receiving the ball and making a good directional first touch into space to prepare for the next action.

Description:

The players work in pairs and are positioned on cones 15 yards apart. The first player passes the ball and the second player has to take a directional first touch and then perform a second action. The 3 differentvariations in the diagram are listed below.

Variations:

1- The player moves forward to receive the pass, takes a directional first touch out in front towards the left or right and then passes the ball back to the other player.

2- This is the same as the first, but the player makes a movement around the cone before receiving,as shown in the diagram.

3- The player moves foward to receive the pass on the half turn, takes a directional first touch with the inside of the foot, turns in one movement and dribbles the ball to the cone.

Techincal Points:

1. Instep passes hit firmly.

2. Contact poont on the instep should be half way up the ball.

3. Weight of the pass.

4. Accuracy of the pass.

5. Communication between the passer and receiver.

When Receiving:

1. Prepare the foot early and take a good touch, toe up, heel down and ankle locked
