FIFA 11 Warm-Up (15 mins)

Organization:

10x40 yard area (30 yards from first cone to last cone)

Instructions:

FIFA 11 Warm-Up

- Each exercise is ran 2x

- Jog back to the start line - use as recovery

- Try to have each pair be in sync/unison

- Next pair doesn't start until pair in front reaches first cones

1) Simple Jog down.

2) "Open the Gate": Drive knee straight up, then twist rotating out; Alternate legs.

3) "Close the Gate": Knee comes up but at a right angle to the body, then twist rotating inward; Alternate legs.

4) "Circle Partner": Pair runs to first cone, then still facing forward, side shuffle towards each other, going around one another in a tight circle, then shuffle back out to their side of the channel. Run forward to second cone and repeat.

5) "Jump with Shoulder contact": Pair runs to first cone, then still facing forward, side shuffle towards each other, and jump to bump shoulders, land softly and shuffle back out to their side of the channel. Run forward to the second cone and repeat.

6) Sprint to the second cone, decelerate to then backpedal to the first cone; sprint to the third cone, decelerate to then backpedal to the second cone, etc.

7) 75% pace sprint through the channel to opposite end.

8) "Bounding": Drive the knee up as you "jump/bound" across the channel; opposite arm should come up as your knee comes up; each "step" is a new bound (think long-jump strides).

9) "Plant & Cut": Pairs run across one another to the first cone and plant/cut to then go to cone two; zig-zag across one another through the length of the channel

Warm Up / SAQ (15 mins)

SAQ / Technical

Organization: Set up three different teams each in a different channel with a different SAQ drill.

Activity:

Once the player has made it through the SAQ portion of the channel he/she must perform the technical portion of the movements. Each movement will be different depending on what channel you are in.

A: 5 toe touches on each of the 3 balls.

B: 6 foundations (boxes) on each of the 3 balls. 

C: Coach feeds ball- 4 inside foot ;top of foot, thigh foot

Coaching Points:

1. Be sure to have ballance as you make it through each of the three stations.

2. Be sure to finish the drill that means performing every touch you need to on all three balls.

4 -15 by 10 boxes

8 large cones

Coaching

1) Play to back foot

2) Play forward

3) Get open for the pass- 45 angle from th

Progressions:

1) Play into any box

2) Cannot play back to previos box

Activity (15 mins)

Set up:

4 groups of 4-10-12 yds apart

Actiivty:

1) Player A nd B are touching hands

2) A and B drop off in supportive postion and demand the ball

3) D passes to A, A to C then reverse the direction

Switch passers

Coaching Points:

1) Angle

2) Solid Pass to Back foot- Play right foot Right foot or Left Foot, Left Foot

3) Communicate-"turn"

4) get you body open to play foward

Why do we play forward? To score....

Progressions:

1) Speed of Play

2) Longer Pass

3) Race

4) Play 3 v 1 in area

Game 4v4 (25 mins)

Organization:

2 fields, 4v4 or 3v3

Instructions:

8 min games then teams switch and play another team.

Coaching Points:

3 lines of attack, Def - Mid - For.

Look to create space for player in posession

Try to create a triangle giving good angles of support.

Turn away from the pressure using turns developed earlier in session
