Phase 1,2 & 3 (5 mins)

Phase 1 ( Warm Up)

This will be taken by player coach and

Phase 2 (Reactive Speed)

Set Up

2 x Cones (1 of each colour) per pair of players

1 x Post

Cones will be set up at 10 metres from the post.

Description

1) Players will number themselves one and two

2) Player 1 will lead and initiate a movement towards the red or yellow cone

3) Player 2 must react and chase him

Each player will perform 5 reps as the leader and 5 as the chaser.

3 sets to be performed

Phase 3 (Reactive Speed)

Set Up

3 cones per pair of players (different Colours)

1 x bib per pair of players

Area size will be 25 metres

Description

1) Player on the touch line will have a bib tucked in the back of his shorts

2) Both players will lay flat on their front

3) Player 1 on the touch line will intitate the movement by getting up and sprinting towards the cone

4) Player 2 must react and race to pull the bib out of the players shorts

Each player will perform 5 reps as the front player and 5 reps as the back player. This will form 1 set and 5 sets to be performed

Injury Prevention (5 mins)

After completing Reactive Speed session players will form the following:

Crunches for 30 seconds

Double Crunches for 30 seconds

2 minute rest before starting on Phase 1 & 2

Phase 4 Fitness (10 mins)

Set Up

Square set up in the middle of the pitch 20 x 20 (may be bigger depending on numbers)

Cones to suit approx 10 as a minimum

4 x posts

5 balls, 1 in use and 4 spread around the outside

Description

1) Players numbered 1 to 11 or accordingly to the number of players

2) Players pass the ball numerically to each other 1-11-1-11 etc.

3) Players must keeping moving throughout the passing element.

4) On the coaches whistle the players have 15 seconds to get to a corner flag and back.

5) Once back in the square the passing continues.

6) The coach will wait 30 seconds before blowing the whistle again.

7) Steps 2-5 will be repeated a total of 10 times whch will equal to 10 runs in total.

Injury Prevention (5 mins)

After each set on Phase 1 and 2 the players will form the following:

Phase 1 players:

Round the clock lungees 5 of each

Carioca's forwards then backs on opposite leg 10 yards each

Squats x 20 off

Phase 2 Players

Round the clock planks 20 second each

Leg raisers 20 seconds

Double leg raisers 20 seconds

2 minute rest then start on next phase

Phase 5 Fitness (10 mins)

Set Up

Full length pitch, players will pair up on the egde of the box.

6 Balls (depending on numbers 1 ball per pair of players)

Description

1) In their pairs players will pass the ball over 5 yards.

2) On the whistle they have 12-15 seconds to reach the opposite box.

3) On reaching the opposite box they continue passing for 30 seconds.

4) After 30 seconds the coach will blow the whistle and points 3 and for will be repeated

5) This sequence will be performed 10 times which will equal to 10 runs in total.

Phase 6 Transition Support Play (30 mins)

Set Up

In an area 60 yards x 40 yards, we divide the pitch into 3 grids. The central zone is 10 yards x 40 yards and the 2 outside zones are 25 yards x 40 yards.

Description

1) The practice starts in one outside zone with one team in possession as shown in the illustration (yellow team).

2) We have 8 attackers (yellow) vs 6 defenders (red) and 1 neutral player (green). The yellow team has 4 midfielders and 2 attackers inside this zone and 2 full backs who move only along the sides (2 & 3). Thered team has 4 defenders and 2 central midielders.

3) The green (neutral) play with whoever is in possession.

4) In the central zone we have a 1v1 situation and 2 side forwards for the red team who only move along the sides. In the other outside zone we have a 1v1.

5) In the first zone, the yellow team has the objective to keep possession and they get 1 point when they complete 6-8 passes.

6) The aim for the red team is to steal the ball and pass quickly into the central zone. One player is allowed to move into the central zone to provide quick support to him and receive a pass back.

7)The same player will then look to do the same again in the final zone with the striker and the 2 side players provide support in the central zone and end zone as shown in the diagram.

8) Once the ball reaches the end zone, the roles of the 2 teams changes.
