Organisation

. 1/2 pitch practice

. Full width of the pitch and coned area palced 15 yds each side of the half wide line (30yds in total) and 2 small goals at the end of the pitch.

.3 araes of ball supply for quick restarts

1 In the GK's goal.

2. Server at top of zoned area.

3. Balls down the touchline.

.Teams will play a 4-3-3 formation (defending team) only using the back 4 and midfield 3 against a 3-5-2 formation (attacking team) only using the midfield 5 and the front 2 with a server who will rotate with attacking midfielders during the game.

.The session will be focussing on the red team attacking the goal and the white team trying to keep posession in the zoned area.

. The session will last 30 minutes and I will stop the session every 8 minutes to intervene by giving information to players and create additional problems for the reds.

Set Up

The GK will start with the ball playing pass to white defenders who will bring ball forward .

White Team

The aim for the white team is to progress the ball forward to the zoned area where they will be looking to make 6 passes before scoring in the small goals. When red win ball back they can break forward. If 6 passes are reached then server on end of pitch will play ball into red to counter attack. The condition will hopefully encourage the white full backs to get forward to create a 5v5 in the zoned area. ( leaving space for red wing backs to exploit.

Red Team

The red team have to attack the goal, when they win posession of the ball they will look to counter attack quickly. If it becomes slow I will put a time restriction ( 15 seconds to get a shot off)

Solution 1. (10 mins)

Set the problem

The white team are able to bring ball forward into the zoned area this is done by reds showing them one way, keeping them down one side and condense space

This will mean that white full backs are allowed to get forward.

Solution To The Problem

As the white team are trying to make their 6 passes to score and the full backs are advanced then they wing backs would be looking to make forward runs beyond full backs and join in the attack to create an overload.

Rules

First pass forward has to be into a striker who will recieve ball shaddowed by centre back.

Objectives

To allow both wing backs and a midfielder to get forward and join in with the attack.(No white midfielder is allowed to track back during this practice.

Coaching points

Defending, players showing the correct way and covering palyers working as a team to have a middle press.

Wide players be imaginative move off the line .

Strikers working as a pair to cause defenders problems

Midfielder run beyond front men.

Attack with pace, if slow will put a condition of 12 seconds to get shot off.
