Passing Warm-up (15 mins)

Organization: 12 cones. 3 even teams. 4 Red, 4 Yellow, 4 Blue.

Instructions: 2 balls per team. Pass ball between players on same team in sequence 1-4. Players are to pass ball on ground and use the inside of the foot technique.

Coaching Points: 1. Inside of foot technique. 2. Head up after receiving. 3. Make visual and or verbal

agreement before pass made. 4. Receive inside of foot and take touch in positive direction toward space.

Progressions: 1. Players pass in sequence within own team. 2. Only 1 ball per team now. Players always receive from one color and pass to other color. Example: Red passes to Blue --> Yellow --> Red --> etc... 3. Add extra ball if teams able to do pattern with ease.

Main Activity (30 mins)

Organization: Same setup as Warm-up. 1 team in middle. 2 teams on perimeter with ball.

Instructions: Outside player passes in to checking inside player. Receive ball and play back. Each team gets 30 seconds of work before next progression.

Coaching Points: 1. Weight of pass. 2. Inside of foot passing technique 3. Receiving posture. 4. Positive first touch. 5. Receive back foot/front foot 6. Angle of run to receive. 7. Shape of body when receiving.

Progressions: 1. Double pass (1-2 pass). 2. Receive and find other player on outside who is without ball (will need to eliminate 2 balls from exercise for this). 3. Receive and choose to play double pass or find other player without ball.

Conditioned game (20 mins)

Organization: 30x30 area. Even teams. 3 v. 3 or 4 v. 4 if possible.

Instructions: "Try to attack and beat a defender 1 v. 1 before you make a pass, before you dribble across line." Players can score by successfully completing 1 v. 1 move and taking ball away with possession OR dribbling to stop ball on opposing end line.

Coaching Points: Identify where space is to attack and take away into space. Distance to defender when using 1 v. 1 move.

Progressions: (1.) Score points by successfully completing 1 v. 1 move. "Try to take 1 v. 1 every time you receive ball." (2.) Play game to end lines. Score by stopping ball on opposing end line or by successful 1 v. 1. (3.) Play to 2 cone goals. Score by dribbling through or successful 1 v. 1.

The game (25 mins)

Organization: 45x60 field. 2 GK or can play to pug goals with no GK. 6 v 6 or 5 v 5 depending on numbers. 14 cones. Balls at center field on sideline with coach. Add neutral player if uneven numbers.

Instructions: Throw ins, goal kick, and corner kicks on out of bounds. Have players keep track of goals scored.

Coaching Points: Let them play. Less feedback. Few points reinforcing good habits in the flow.

Progressions: none
