Coerver Ball Based Warm up (25 mins)

Learning Objectives

All players have a ball each and are asked to dribble their ball -using all parts of both feet- at game speed and intensity anywhere in the soccer area (approx 30 x 30 yards), executing a Superskill move after every third touch.

While performing a move the players should be encouraged to be dynamic showing a distinct change in both speed and direction adding an exaggerated ‘fake’ {to trick the defender} if required. After completing a move, all players should seek to accelerate away {losing the defender}. Stretching should be incorporated into the above practice whereby the players periodically stop to stretch the various muscles groups in a sequence

Technical

1. Players should keep the ball a comfortable distance away from them

2. Players should dribble with their heads up, with both feet, and all parts of their feet.

3. Players should be encouraged to take lots of touches and have sharp movements off the

ball.

4. Players should also perform super skills/moves at game speed, ensuring changes of both direction and speed, and must accelerate as they beat/go past defenders.

5. It is essential that the coach assess the type of turns the players execute and identify faults.

6. Players should keep their center of gravity low as they turn so that they can turn quickly

and explode away into space in another direction.
