40x30 yard area with 5x5 yard boxes in each corner.

# teams of 3/4 players depending on numbers.

Game starts with players passing and moving freely through the main area. On coach's whistle or command the teams race to complete 10 passes in each of the boxes. 1st team to complete all 4 boxes wins.

Progress to allowing 1-2 players to leave the box at 6 passes to provide a long passing option for team mates to find their next box. In the event that 2 players from opposite teams attempt to complete the same box, the first team with a player in that box gets to complete that box first.

Coaching Points

- Weight and accuracy of pass

- Body position

- Pass to which foot?

- 1 touch vs two touch - feet or space?

- Runs to recieve passes - bent/curved - can you see the ball and move away from it at the same time?

- Communication

4 box game

3 teams of 3-5 players

2 teams inside the area competing, 1 team outside the area as Neutrals

1 point is scored by any player who can dribble into and then out of a different side of any box.

First team to 3 points stays in, or rotate teams every 3-4 minutes.

Coaching Points

- Possession - how to keep it - attacking principles - support-mobility - where and how

- How and When to penetrate - recognize overloads, if I dribble here and two defenders follow me, I can turn and create a 2v1 somewhere?

Same set up as in stage 2.

This time the point is scored by receiving a pass from a team mate in any of the boxes.

The box acts as an offside line, so a player can only enter after the ball has been passed.

Coaching Points

-Possession vs Penetration - is this the best opportunity or shoul we be more patient to give us a better chance?

- Timing of movement - arrive after the ball is released. - body position, can I see the defender, the line and the ball at the same time?

- Shape - are we creating options close and away from the ball, are we making the space big?

- Tempo - when to speed it up and when to slow it down.
