Passing drill to get the players a good feel of the ball.

Drill set up as shown and players pass and follow ...gradually increasing the tempo.

Make sure receiving players demand the ball and show good opposite movement.

Progress by introducing a sharp '1, 2 ' around the mannequins.

Focus on touch, weight of pass, communication, movement, timing of runs, body shape to receive.

3 zones game defening outnumbered thr thirds

Set up reds 3-3-2 attack blues 3-2-1 set up in 3 zones. 1 red defender can join into middle third to make it a 4v2, then 2 red players can join into attacking third with 1 blue player allowed to recover after 1 pass in attacking third making it a 4 v 3 first then 4v4. If blues regain ball they try to counter attack other goal.

Learning Objectives defending in diferent areas of pitch with diferent strategies.

Technical defending techniques body position, footwork,

Tactical when to force play outside/inside when to press ball or drop off angle of press and support depending upon pressure on ball.

Physical recovery runs, strength, endurance, vision.

Psychological/Social concentration, team work , effort.

SSG 3-3-2 with floater & 2 targets

Set up both teams 3-3-2 with floater coach delivers balls to either team to encourage quick counter attacks. Blues attack 2 wide targets and reds attack normal goal with GK.

Learning Objectives quick recovery, nearest player to engage player on ball, others drop or press depending upon pressure on ball.

Technical Recovery runs, pressure on ball, supporting defenders positions.

Tactical Press or drop decisions affected by area of pitch and pressure on ball.
