Warm-Up/Triangle Tag (15 mins)

Organization:

• 3/4 triangles around the area

• 2 defenders

• All other attackers have pinnie in shorts

Instructions:

Defenders are trying to pull pinnie out of the shorts of the attacker If they manage to do so they switch with the attacker. Attackers are safe inside triangle

Only one player can be in triangle at one time

Coaching Points:

1) Protect pinnie

2) Awareness of defenders

Progressions:

P-Add competition Each player starts with 10 points they lose one each time thier pinnie is pulled, player with the most points at the end is the winnder

Un-Opposed/Semi-Opposed (20 mins)

Organization:

• Same as previous but now players outside the triangles have a ball

Instructions:

• Players outside of the triangle have a ball and have to find a player in the triangle

• Players score a point everytime they are able to receive inside the triangle and play out a different side (no points for the pass).

• Player with the most points after 90 seconds is the winner

• Challenge players to beat their previous score

Tiered Coaching Points:

Tier 1

1) Receiving with inside of back foot into space or across the body

5) Taking the ball on the back foot (furthest one from the ball

Fully-Opposed (20 mins)

Organization:

Same as previous but with addition of goals

Instructions:

Same as before but now with defenders.

Defenders are looking to score by winning the ball and playing into pugs

Game lasts 2 minutes long, then 2 defenders switch

Only points of defenders are counted

Coaching Points:

1) Awareness of defenders (head up/check shoulder as ball is passed)

2) Distance / Direction of touch based on defenders

3) Transitional moments - Both sides of the ball
