Warm up (15 mins)

Organization:

1. 20x20 yrds zone

2. Team split into even numbers ( pairs)

Instructions:

1. Players try to knock other player ball out of the grid

2. One minute rounds, 30 second rest

Coaching Points:

1. Use of body to protect the ball

2. Awareness of surroundings

3. General coordination

Progressions:

1. Rotate players

2. Use of weak foot

Main activity/Semiopposed (30 mins)

Organization:

1. 20x20 grid

2. Players split into pairs

3. Gates of cones spread around the grid

Instructions:

1. Attacking players need to dribble to many gates they can.

2. Defensive player follow the attacking player as a shadow.

3. Change roles

4. One minute rounds,30 seconds recovery

Coaching Points:

1. Improve individual possesion under pressure

2. Shield the ball

3. Look up when dribble

4. Change of direction

Progressions:

1. Use of weak foot

2. Time limit to dribble thru gates

Main activity/Full opposed (30 mins)

Organization:

1. 20x20 grid

2. Players split into pairs

3. Gates of cones spread around the grid

Instructions:

1. Attacking players need to dribble to many gates they can.

2. Defensive player must try to get possession of the ball as the attacker shield the soccer ball

3. When red had possession he/she must dribble to red gates, blues dribble trough blue gates when have possession

5. One minute rounds,30 seconds recovery

Coaching Points:

1. Improve individual possession under pressure

2. Shield the ball

3. Look up

4. Change of direction

5. Use of arms to feel defender

Progressions:

1. Use of weak foot

2. Points for shielding the ball, points for stealing the ball.

Small side game (20 mins)

Organization:

1. Team split into two teams

2. Two small goals

Instructions:

1. Coach serve a ball to the middle, two players will go on a 1v1 situation, players must dribble back the soccer ball to their line.

2. Team scores more goals wins

3.If a goal is score after shielding is worth 2 points

Coaching Points:

1. Speed/ reaction time

2. Use of arms to shield and protect the ball

3. When , where and how to shield the soccer ball

Progressions:

1.Players can score on goal, instead of dribbling back to line

2. 2v2 situation,3v3 situation.
