Passing drill to focus on ...

middle players always set up in triangle shape.

First player feints to receive then spins to receive set of second man, then plays third man ( in between mannequins ) who plays out and follows his pass.

Build up to a high tempo.

Attacking & Counter Attacking

Practice Organisation:

- Area 40x20yds, with 2 zones marked 10yds into each end.

- 2 small goals at one end, to serve as targets & one normal goal, set back 5 yards behind opposite end line, defedned by GK, as illustrated.

- 17 players (incl. GK) divided into 2 teams of 8 (Reds & Blues)

- Players in each team work in pairs.

- Practice starts with: Blues serve ball forward to Reds, who send-out 2 players to receive & attack goal.

- Blues send-out 1 player (A) to make 1v2.

- Reds objective is to get the ball into Blues end zone & shoot at goal.

- If Blue defender wins ball: a 2nd Blue (B) takes a ball & attacks either of the 2 goals opposite end to score.

- 2 Reds become recovering D's attempt to stop this.

- Reverse roles of the team after suitable period of practice.

Progressions:

- If Blue (A) wins the ball in the middle zone a 2nd Blue (B) can support to make a 2v2 and attack in small goals.

- Reds can send out 3 A's, Blues sending out 2 D's making a 3v2.

Learning Objectives:

- 1v1 skills & individual attacking techniques.

- Creating 2v1 passing oppotunities with individual techniques.

- Isolating individual D & making through pass to attack goal.

- Shooting to score on the move, vs GK.

- Individual defending 1v1, 1v2 situations.

- Use of pitch perimeter to trap Attacker & deny pass to supporting player.

- Delaying & denying space to pass behind.

- Recovering & blocking possible shots.

Blue attackers can only score directly from a cross from either channel player.

Blue players are restricted to their zones.

Red defenders can move freely through the three zones and score by finding a pass into the target player when he is in the end zone.

Green target player joins in the game and plays for whoever is in possession.

Rotate all players.

Game is started after a 1-2 between target player and defenders.

1. Type of cross - cut back/corridor/1st time

2. Variety of cross - curled, high, low & driven

3. Direction of first touch to dribble

4. Identify space to dribble

5. Skill/speed/disguise to beat defender

6. Switch play in order to drill
