Organization:

20 x 20 area and all players with a ball except coach

small 1 x 1 area of cones

Instructions:

1. The players must dribble around in the mud (area) and keep their floatie (ball) close

2. The mud monster (coach) runs around and tries to take the floaties and kick them out of the area

3. If a player gets their floatie taken away, they must stand in the mud, stuck, with their legs spread

4. To get a player back in, the players with their floaties must go out of the area and get the stuck persons floatie and bring it back to them by passing it between thier legs.

5. If all players are stuck after a certain time period (designated by coach) the mud monster wins, if anyone still has their floatie, they win

Coaching Points:

Dribble with your head up and keeping the ball close so the mud monster can't take your floatie

When passing through the players legs, keep the ball close to them so the monster doesn't take it back

Help your teammates as quickly as possible to avoid losing

Progressions:

P- Once a player is out, the player getting them back in has to dribble both balls

P- Two mud monsters

Story/Description:

1.Pirates (players) are all battling to be the “Captain of the Ship”

2.To do this they have to get from one end of the pirate ship to the other without getting hit by a cannon ball (soccer ball)

3.The cannon balls are being fired by the coach

4.Coach yells “CANNON BALLERS, ARE YOU READY?” to which the players respond “FIRE IN THE HOLE!” (This only happens when the first player is out)

5.Coach yells “PIRATES ARE YOU REDAY?’ pirates shout ‘RRRRRRRRRR’. Coach then yells “CANNON BALL RUN” and all the pirates run to the other end of the ship

6.Any pirate that gets hit with a cannon ball then becomes a cannon ball-er and helps fire cannon balls

7.The last pirate left is the Captain

Coaching Points:

1.Keep your eye on the cannon balls and use different movements to not get hit

2.Move quickly across the pirate ship

3.Keep your eye on the cannon ball when you hit it, and use inside of the foot

4.Try to time the firing of the cannon ball so that the pirates run into it
