Warm--Up (20 mins)

Organization

1 ball/player. Execute core fast footwork moves at each cone. Can challenge players with different sizes of balls ie tennis ball, size 1 skills ball, size 3 futsal

Coaching Points:

1) Ball under close control - 1 step away

2) Quick feet - on toes

3) Positive touches -with intent

4) Head up to see options

SAQ (10 mins)

Organization:

3 lines of players. Work on Speed, Agility and Quickness.

a) Begin by having players sprint to each cone and stop quickly

b) Progress to breaking right or left at 2nd and 3rd cone. After breaking right or left players will backpedle horizontal and then sprint forward to next cone

c) Add ball

Coaching Points:

1)Importance of 1st step – use back leg as spring

2)Pump Arms for power

3)Keep head steady

4)On toes - stay off heals

Progression:

Make it competetive with races

Technique (20 mins)

Organization:

Players work in groups of six. Goalkeeper serves ball to one of the outfield players on edge of box, who takes one touch to control and then strikes ball on 2nd touch to score a goal.

Coaching Points:

1) Receiving players alert and bouching on balls of feet

2) 1st touch "inside" towards goal and gt body to the side

3) Short steps to position body for stike on goal

4) Sholder "dropped to one side" to generte a longer 'swing"

5) Increase foot speed on impact, snap ankle

6) Head over ball

Progressions:

1) One touch strike on goal

2) One touch pass to other teammate for 1st time strike on goal

3) Dribble and beat GK

4) One defender comes out after 1st touch

5) Defender starts 5 yards behind to put pressure on striker

SSG (20 mins)

Organization:

Start with 2 v 1 attacking. Either attacker checks back to receive ball. Any 1 defender can react to movement and moves into defend against 2 attackers. If have enough players can have two groups working in two opposite goals.

Coaching Points:

1) Quick decisive movements by strikers

2) Decision making by strikers - shoot, 1v1 or pass?

3) Quick passing combinations if shot or 1v1 not on

4) Creative finish

5) Positive mentality

Progressions:

1) 3v2

2) 4v3

3) 5v4

Game (20 mins)

Let them play! For quick transition, set the condition that once score must then attack the opposite goal
