Building up link Play (15 mins)

Quick Combination Play with Link Players

Set-up: 8-9 players in 30x30 Grid.

A > B, B > A, A > C, C > B,

Switch directions. Link players just follow their pass to start off.

Coaching Points

1) The movements need to be synchronised with well timed passes out in front of the players to move onto without having to slow down

2) the body shape of the link players is key, as they open up to pass at different angles

3) the passes of the link player should be made with the back foot (furthest away from the ball).

Possession with Direction (15 mins)

3v3+2 : 15x25 Grid or 30x20, 8 Players

Rules:

- Team in possession scores a point every time they transition from one end to the other.

- Players need to connect two passes in middle before playing target on outside.

- 3 minute games, switch neutrals after game.

- Losing team has fitness

Progression:

1) 2 touches in middle, 1 touch on outside

2) Player who passed ball to outside cannot receive it from them.

3) One touch

Coaching Points: There's always a player open, need to peak and know what you're going to do before you receive the ball. How are you receiving the ball? Are you creating enough space to receive with hips open?

1v1 to Big Goals: set-up 3 goals.

Two teams. One team is defending other is attacking. 3 minute games

- Defender clears ball as far as possible and closes player down, don't give them space

- Attacker be aggressive and go at them

Building Up Endline Game (20 mins)

Building up 'Free Player' Dyanmic Endline Game

Progression:

1) Blue team scores by dribbling or passing ball across endline to teammate

2) Two outside mids must touch the ball before crossing the endline

Coaching Points:

1) With intelligent movement, there should always be a free player to work the ball to.

2) All players need to be able to read the tactical situation, so they can quickly react and make correct movements and decisions.
