SAQ Finishing & 2v1 (10 mins)

How to play

A and B start at the same time and work through their circuit of hurdles, ladders.

At the same time, C sprints around the pole and faces goal.

B passes the ball to A, who plays wide to C.

A&B then attack the cross.

As soon as they've made an attempt on goal. D along with B, play 2v1 against A and attempt to score in the opposite goal. If the defender wins the ball they counter on the opposite goal.

After 3 reps per player they rotate clockwise. When all four players have played each position the exercise is complete.

4v2 to goal (20 mins)

Organisation

Set Up: 45x35 yard area.

4 attackers (blue) play against 2 defenders (red).

How to play

Play starts with the players with the ball.

A side pass triggers the movement for 9&10 at which point they show ball and combine to create a chance at goal.

As soon as the ball is in play, it becomes 4v2 to goal. If the defenders win the ball, or the ball is in the GKs hands, they counter to the target goals.

Rotate designated attackers and defenders every 4 minutes.

Coaching Points

1. 9&10 support OFF each other, not flat.

2. Body shape receiving the ball.

3. Can we pull opponents into positions that are bad for them and good for us.

4. Meet the ball to quicken the play.

5. Be decisive.
