Individual dribbling

Dribbling & footwork

Practice dribbling in a 10x10 metre area using all surfaces of both feet. Makes lots of turns and changes of direction keeping the ball under your control.

Skill Centre moves:

- Inside outside - inside inside roll - stepover roll - roll outside

Juggling:

Try different combinations of juggling, for example:

- R foot, R thigh, L thigh, L foot

- R shoulder, head, L shoulder

- Laces, inside, outside

- Skill Centre 18 - 18 different parts of your body without dropping the ball (laces x 2, inside x2, outside x 2, heels x 2, toes x 2, shins x 2, thighs x 2, chest, shoulders x 2, head = 18)

Passing & receiving

Passing (individual and/or with a friend)

Passing against a wall

- Pass with one foot and receive with the other. When the ball comes back, mix up the way you receive the ball (taking away into space, quick turn and change of direction, receiving the ball and keeping it close)

- Pass the ball at different heights so you receive with different surfaces (feet, thigh, chest, head).

Whenever you receive the ball, have a plan in your mind of where you want to go with the ball. For example, if you want to change direction can you take your first touch in the direction you want to go.

If you have a friend to play with, have them pressure you once they've made the pass and now your first touch needs to be away from them.

Shooting

If you dont have access to a goal, use a jumper as a goal (like back in the old days).

Practice shooting with accuracy and power into the corner of the goal using different surfaces of both feet.

Now try it while dribbling or try serve the ball up (using hands or feet) allowing one bounce before shooting.

If you have a friend to practice with, take in turns of being in goal. Have a penalty shoot-out or a free kick competition.

GK vs Striker - start on the cones, on GO the GK runs around the pole and to the goal, the striker dribbles around the pole and tries to score (see diagram 2).
