Session Objectives:

-For players to fully understand how to properly dribble; there should be no players using their toes from now on

-For every player to be able to be positivie and win a 1v1 battle against a defender

-To touch upon players' decision making skills; should they pass/shoot/dribble?

Skills Corridor Plus (15 mins)

Set-up:

-Two equal teams of dribblers and two defender

-Red players dribble up the corridor and turn to the outside and run back down. This is where they face a defender in a 1v1 situation

-Attacker tries to score and the defender tries to stop them

-Next red player goes after the attack is finished

-Alternate defenders after every 5 goes

Coaching points:

-Dribble with laces, knee angled (NO TOES)

-Can the player perform a skill move to beat the defender

-Can players keep manipulating the ball to occupy the defender?

Progressions:

-Attackers can only dribble their ball up the corridor with the sole of their feet (moving toe-taps, backwards toe-taps, roll-overs).

-Attacking player MUST perform a trick/skill/turn before they score a goal

1v1 Small Sided Game (15 mins)

Set-up:

-Two teams; one team defenders (blue) and one team attackers (red)

-1 player from defending team plays ball in to on-coming attacking team player. They then play 1v1 to bigger goal and attacking player tries to score

-If defending player steals the ball they can try and score in two opposite mini-goals

-Once ball is dead the next two go

Note: GK's are optional for the big goal, if no GK is needed then restrict attackers ability to score e.g. add shooting line, weaker foot shot only

Advanced Small sided Game (15 mins)

Set-Up:

-Exactly same as before but a 2v1 attacking overload

-2 attackers v 1 defender

Coaching points:

-Can player identify when to dribble or when to pass (decision making)

-Encourage skills moves and speed

SSG (15 mins)

Set-up:

-Small sided games to finish

-4v4 with no GK's

-Emphasis on beating an oppenent in a 1v1 situation

Coaching points:

-Encourage 1v1

-If a player takes a wrong decision, ask them 'what could you have done instead?' Let them answer, don't give them the answer
