Obstacle Race (10 mins)

Obstacle race – Similar to bulldog, players have to get from one end of the grid to another however they now have an allocated time to do so, with no defender. Instead of a defender, cones are spread out across the grid as obstacles. If you hit an obstacle you return to the start line and start again.

Progression:

1. More obstacles

2. Less time

3. Make grid smaller

Coaching Points:

• Head up to see space ahead

Progression:

1. Weak Foot only

Coaching Points:

• Close ball control for quick changes of direction

• Small touches for close control

• Bigger touches when moving faster

Progression:

1. Can be made into a relay

2. Weak foot only

3. If you go out of the course, then you have to perform ten toe taps before beginning again

Coaching Points:

• Try to dribble as quickly as possible

• Close control in tighter corners

• Head up to watch out for obstacles and other racers

Slalom Race (10 mins)

Slalom Races – Coach keeps players into the same team however they are now taking part in skiing slalom races. Coach sets out a slalom course (Doesn't have to be straigh, it can be diagonal) with cones in front of each team to dribble through with the final cone further apart in which the player must perform a turnaround before sprinting back to team and hi- 5 next partner to begin.

Progression:

1. Smaller gaps between slalom cones

2. If cone is hit, then player must return to the start and begin again

Coaching Points:

• Close control to slalom through cones

• Accelerate away from turn

• Head up when dribbling
