Screen 1

Set up: 25x15y grid, team split into 2 even teams.

Description: 2v2 defending, Game starts with a pass from yellow to blue. 2 Blue attackers and first Yellow defender are live when the ball is passed, then the second trailing yellow defender can run and get back when the first blue player touches the ball. Looking for first defender to slow the attack and the secind defender to track back and cover for the first defender.

Coaching Points:

1) Appropriate timing

2) Tackle ( ques when to: bad touch by attacker, close to sideline, attacker head down, back is turned)

3) Appropraite body position in approach

4) Pressure on ball, cover in behind

Progression: Adjust the size of the grid. Add 2 trailing defenders.

Screen 2

Set Up: 2 15x15y grids put together, 30x15y total

Description: Play starts the attacking team starting with the ball. Attacking team attempts to get through first box 2v1 and then enter second box 2v2 to goal. Blue attemps to win the ball and score into 2 small goals on opposite end. Defenders can only defend in their own box.

Coaching Points:

1) Appropriate timing

2) Tackle ( ques when to: bad touch by attacker, close to sideline, attacker head down, back is turned)

3) Appropraite body position in approach

4) Pressure on ball, cover in behind

5) communication

Progression:

Attack to larger goals

Add numbers to attack and defense, 3 attacker 4 defenders.

Expanded Small Sided Game (15 mins)

Set Up: 40x45 grid with big goal and GK on one end and 3 small goals on other side.

Description: 3 v 4, Attacking team Blue starts with the ball and attacks big goal. Purple team defends with 4 defenders, can win the ball and attack one of the 3 small counter goals.

Coaching Points:

1) Appropriate timing

Progression: add attacker and defender, more numbers.

4v4 to 2 goals

Set Up: 50x45y 2 big goals (or cone goals), 4v4+GK+ Neutral

Description: 4v4+GK+Neutral game to 2 big goals. Team not in possession individually have to be behind mid line before they can defend the person with the ball, otherwise a regular game. (once behind midline they can defend in attacking half)

Coaching Points:

1) Appropriate timing

2) Tackle (ques when to: bad touch by attacker, close to sideline, attacker head down, back is turned)

3) Appropraite body position in approach

4) Pressure on ball, cover in behind

5) communication

Progression:

1. every player on defending team needs to be behind mid line for team to defend.

2. Can work on a little counter defense- extra points if ball is won in attacking half and score
