PRACTICE ORGANISATION:

20 by 20 yard area. 8 players 4 balls. Attackers in square aim to receive ball from "T"s on outside and gain a point when receiving pass, before passing to spare T on the outside. D must not be in the same aquare when receiving the ball or point does not count.

Aim to reach 5 points.

DETAIL:

Encourage quick changes of direction as well as communication and awareness of space to receive. Each player must receive ball in empty square.

PROGRESSION:

Double number of As in the square

Player must mark man for man.

KEY POINTS:

Deception of defender

Awareness of Ds position.

Communication and signalling

Timing, weigh and release of pass.

PRACTICE ORGANISATION:

15 by 15 yards square with 12 by 12 yard internal square

8 players, 1 ball

5 attacks vs one defender within internal square

Attackers within internal square look to pass ball accurately to one of outside Ts

Ball is transferred back in, once achieved and objective is to move the ball across internal square to opposite side.

DETAIL

Ratio can be adjusted to suit ability

If Attackers are under under pressur,e they can dribble ball into safe zone outside of internal square

Player moving outside internal square swaps places with a target player.

PROGRESSION:

Once T receives, he swaps places with player who passed ball.

KEY POINTS:

Establish appropriate overload is important to provide challenge but also offer confidence building thro0uhg success.

Attackers look to move into good supporting areas and consider when to move away to distract Defender to create opportunities to recieve for team mates

Attackers look to receive and turn to pass in smooth movements, developing a side on view of progression of play within internal square

PRACTICE ORGANISATION:

14 x 10 yards. 2 halves of 6 x 10 yards. Practice operates across area, operating in two channels, starts with ball fed in from one end.

Objective for groups is to transfer 6 balls across area from 2 v 1 situation. Groups look to meet objective in quickest possible time.

If D wins ball, it does not count as successful transfer.

DETAIL:

Weight of pass into area for receivers.

Making early decisions on combining with team mates.

PROGRESSIONS:

Extra D is introduced (from central channel) to create 2 v 2 once initial pass is made into 2 As (as shown in diagram)

A passing ball to outside changes places with outside team mate.

Ds in centre allowed to enter areas to create 2 v 2s on limited number of occasions without telling the passers

KEY POINTS:

As on outside looking to select best pass into team mate

As inside practice area create space and opportunity to receive both individually & for team mate

As inside looking ahead and getting side on to receive

Combination/Individual move

Composure in tight marked situations, awareness of need for patient build up/retention of possession.

PRACTICE ORGANISATION:

30 x 20 Yards. Divided into equal thirds.

Goals at each end. 13 players, including 2 GKs. Arranged 2 v 1 in each end and 2 v 3 in middle. both sets of players remain in their zones. Practice starts with ball fed into reds by coach. Objective is for reds to pass ball through zones to goalkeeper at far end to score.

Blues objective is top prevent scores by reds and if they gain possession attack opposite goal.

Roatate players in teams and zones.

DETAIL:

Emphasis on whole game detail and technical content.

PROGRESSION:

Reds- Keep shape but not neccessarily their positions. (Covering positions where runners have advanced with ball)

-Passes can miss out MF and hit attacking zone.

Blues- Any number can operate in any zone to gain possession

-Blues have time limit to take shot at goal.

KEY POINTS:

Early and appropriate selection of turning techniques to either keep possession.

Matain team shape

Offer support if player cannot/chooses not to turn immediately.
