Warm up/Introduction (10 mins)

Passing in pairs in a 25x25 area. Pairs are given numbers 1 2 3 4 5. When your number is called out whoever has the ball plays it out to one of the wingers, who takes a good 1st touch down the line and crosses (passes) the ball in for the 2 forwards to attack.

Players make a crossover run to attack front and back post.

Introduction of pressure - Have 1 defender who will pick up one of the runs.

Coaching points - timing of the runs (don't get there too early) first touch finish if possible, side foot/driven finish, head over the ball, aim for corners.

Patterns of play (10 mins)

7v7 game with Gk - 1 - 3 - 2 formation.

Gk throws ball out to RM who drives inside taking defending LMid with them. As this is happening CM overlaps on the outside and RM plays in the CM (left footed pass round the corner.) CM then takes good 1st touch down the line to cross for either RF or LF who are making their front and back post runs.

Same down the left side and then the blue team have a go.

Option 2 - GK - RM - CM - RM (give and go) who dribbles down the line and crosses in for RF and LF to attack.
