3v1 Warm-up (15 mins)

3v1 Warm-up:

Rules:

- Have to call name of person you're passing to.

- Player who loses the ball or doesn't call the name goes in the middle and performs 4 push-ups.

Coaching Point: 3 step rule, always supporting your teammate.

Ball Mastery:

sole-V's, Sole-behind, sole-outside, pull push, inside-sole, sole across, etc.

Functional Defender Training: Clearing the ball (10 mins)

A. Player back pedals to pole and then sprints to pole on 6 yard box. Clears the ball that partner is throwing.

B. Same thing but from other side

Can start with tossing ball to clearer

Finishing

1) Wall-pass. Take a touch and shoot or hit it first time.

2) Turn to the outside and shoot.

*Alternate lines.

Coaching points: Where should you finish? If keeper is hugging near post- low far post. If keeper is cheating far then slip it in near post. Are you obvious on your turns?

Add 5v2 Progression before starting this.

1v1 to Big Goals (15 mins)

1v1 to Big Goals: set-up 3 goals.

Two teams. One team is defending other is attacking. 3 minute games

- Defender clears ball as far as possible and closes player down, don't give them space

- Attacker be aggressive and go at them

Framing The Goal (10 mins)

Framing the Goal activity.

Set-up.

-Played within the 18

-3 attackers

-2 defenders

-1GK

- two to three shooters at the top of the D with a pile of balls

- Arc of Servers outside the 18, each has a ball.

Rules:

Exercise starts with a flank service. Ball is dead when it is in the goal, out of play or cleared over the arc servers who may one touch the ball back into the box.

- One touch restriction for all players outside the box

- When ball is dead, shooter at the top of the "D" takes a two touch shot. When ball is dead, move to the second server and repeat until all players have served from the left to the right.

Midfielders

- Midfielders can have a one touch shot if ball is poorly cleared or redirections from strikers.

Strikers

- Two strikers nearest to the flank service fronts the defender putting themselves in goal scoring positions.

- Third strikers read and reacts to situation

Framing the Goal:

- Central striker positions herself approx 5 yards in front of GK to provide a screen for the shot

- move towards the shot so that no obstruction call is made

- wide strikers move two yards wide of post to redirect any shots going wide.

- finish any shot deflected by the goalkeeper or shanked by defenders
