WU: Multi directional movement

SET UP:

-3 teams, 3 gates/goals

-Perform different movements within the area (two feet off the ground, jump, twist etc)

ALTERNATIVES/POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

-Tag the other colours to get a point. Cannot tag someone directly after they tag you, if two people tag one another at the same time one round of rock, paper, scissors will decide who gets the point.

-One team defend the gates infront of the goal while the other two teams try to get past them into the goal area. The defenders can only move from side to side. One point for every entry and one point for every time a defender tags the attacker. If tagged move back into area and attack another gate.

KEY POINTS:

-Be creative with your movement

-Double movements to beat the defender

-More than one attack the same gate to outnumber the defender

T1: Shooting

SET UP:

-3 teams, 3 gates/goals. All goals are placed on the outter two lines so balls are not being kicked into the other three grids.

-Two teams inside the grid with a ball each (suggestions below) and one team behind the goal to retrieve the balls

-Call a colour who break out of the grid and have a strike at goal, once they are in line with the gate (20 seconds maximum to keep players engaged).

-After they shoot the retrieval team get the ball and move into the grid while the shooters stand behind the goal to retrieve the next shot at goal

ALTERNATIVES/POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

-Game of tag inside the area for 30seconds before coach calls a colour and they break out to score

-Ball manipulations for all players, even ones behind the goal but when colour is shouted then this is stopped to fully engage in practice.

-Dribble up to a player in the grid and skill them to get one point

-Number players in each colour 1-3 (number dependent): one starts behind the goal while two and three start in the box. Call a number and the colour who scores first wins a point for their team

-Time or touch limit to score

-Use the other foot

-Put a tall cone infront of the gate and must perform a skill move before scoring

-Set challenges: score with three different parts of the foot, score four goals, double points for a goal with their other foot etc

-Put a cone close to the corner that they must try to get the ball between the cone and the post or put a bib in the top corner of the net that they must try and hit (depending on equipment).

-Shoot before or after the gate to show difference in technique for longer or shorter shots

KEY POINTS:

-Shooting technique: standing foot beside the ball, part of the foot, part of the ball to strike. Decision making, when to use which technique?

-Move the ball to the side of the cone to open up the goal and create a better angle for goal

-Feint to beat the cone

-Aim for the corner (as no goalkeeper), this point could change when keeper is introduced

T2: Shooting

SET UP:

-3 teams, 3 gates/goals

-One team of defenders between the gates with the other two colours inside the box. The defenders can only move side to side and cannot leave the gate

-When their colour is called they must break out, beat the defender and score in the goal. The defenders retrieve the ball and go into the grid while the attackers become the defenders

ALTERNATIVES/POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

-Go past the defender with the ball in hand and throw it into the goal

-After beating the defender with ball in hand, set the ball down and kick it into the goal

-Increase/reduce the distance between the cones to make it easier/more difficult

-The defender starts in the gate but can leave it, moving anywhere they like, once the attacker starts their attack

FURTHER ALTERNATIVES:

-The defender becomes a goalkeeper

-One colour are the goalkeepers, one colour defenders and the other colour start in the grid as attackers. 3 balls inside the grid, giving them three opportunities to score, attackers can play in any format they like, allowing them to make their own decisions (e.g 3x1v1, 1x2v1 & 1x1v1, 1x3v1)

- Further alternatives; Number players in each colour 1-3 again: Number one in goal, number 2 of the same colour are their defenders, with all number threes starting in the box. Players can attack either of the goals, except the one your team mate is defending your own colour is not defending

-Three team competition to see who can score the most points

KEY POINTS:

-Visal awareness so not attacking your own goalkeeper and seeing which goal is free

-Attacking play: speed to attack the defender, feints to fool the defender and finishing quickly

-Different types of finishing: laces, side foot, and outside of foot

-How to finish; placing ball where the keeper isn't and making correct decision on which technique to use.

-Attacking as a team: pass or dribble and providing an option for your team mate; creating overloads

SET UP:

-3 teams, 3 gates/goals

-Each team has a ball and must try to score in another team's goal while protecting their own goal

-If a team wins possession of another team's ball they can keep it and try to score (one team can have all three balls at the one time. If the ball leaves the area it restarts with a pass or dribble in from one of the teams who did not kick it out

-Each team has a fixed goalie. They are numbered 1-3 and will be changed every 2-3 minutes to ensure everyone gets equal chance to practice their shooting

AlLTERNATIVES/POTENTIAL PROGRESSIONS:

-Add/remove balls depending on success: more balls results in more success!

-Change the position of the goals

-Set challenges: double points for a goal with their lesser used foot, goals right into the corner etc

KEY POINTS:

-Speed of attack

-Selecting which goal to attack: overload a goal or spot the free goal with no defenders near it

-Shooting technique and different types of finishes

-Decision of when to pass or dribble: dribble into space or pass around the defender close infront of you
