Short burst and change of direction are needed for this portion as it is wrapped in with the SAQ. For the players doing ladder work this should be continued until you switch the other four members on your team.

Organization: grid size can be 15x15 or 20x20 depending on how long you want your passes to be. All players should be on the outside with two players starting in the middle with no pressure.

 Activity:

Players on the outside start with the ball (only one at a time). Players in the middle are checking to the ball moving in and out changing there runs as the ball swing around the grid. There is no pattern to the passing. If the players decide to play inside outside or inside, inside, outside, outside, outside it does not matter. Ball should never stop moving. Players on the outside run onto the next cone (clockwise) whether they play inside or outside.

Progression #1: Add the player in red to the middle cause the center midfielders to now have pressure when they are receiving a pass from the outside players. Be sure to rotate the 2 center players and one defender.

Coaching Points:

1. Active movement from the inside players. (one checking in and one out)

2. Check your shoulder on the inside.

3. Propper weight of your pass. Play the lead foot to help improve the speed of the drill. Play two touch if possible.

Organization: Creating a 2v1 situation to goal focusing on the playing balls through and engaging the defender. You will need two small goals and GK's along with a grid 30x30.

Activity:

Players on the enplane start the play with a ball played into the lower midfielder who turns and faces the oncoming defender. Midfielder on the ball looks now to pass or dribble. the other midfield player is looking to get in behind while staying on side, which will lead to a 1v1 against the GK.

Coaching Points:

1. Invite pressure then destroy the pressure by playing through or in behind.

2. Decide when is best to play your teammates feet or when to play them into space.

3. Measure the weight of your pass.

4. Composure when 1v1 with the GK's.

Organization: The team defending will have 5 players one of them being a GK. The attacking team will have 7 players with one of them being a GK. Grid size 25x35.

Activity:

Ball will always start with the GK of the attacking team. In the first half of the grid the attacking team is in a 3v1 situation that is including their GK. As possession is kept the forward on the far side is working back to the ball looking for a pass from his/her defender. Once the pass is played into the other side the defender on the goal line can leave to apply pressure on that player. The defender who does not play the pass forward into the new grid is allowed to join the forward creating a 2v1 towards goal trying to get goal or shot on frame.

Coaching Points:

1. Be patient.

2. Make quality passes into feet or space taking care of the ball.

3. Engage the defenders in the attacking half making the defender make a decision on whether to step to stay.
