Warm Up - Keep Away (10 mins)

Warm Up - Keep Away - circle of 5-6 players with 2 defenders in the middle (size of circle depends on ability). Players on outside have 2 touch maximum. Pass amongst each other. Defenders try to win the ball by intercepting the pass (can't tackle). If they win the ball that def switches with the attacker that passed the ball. If the defenders get split by a pass they must stay in the middle for an extra turn.

Progressions - defenders can tackle the attackers, attackers 1 touch

Coaching Points - 1 defender pressures the ball (side on) the other provides cover (on the correct side) to force the play the way they want it to go, as ball moves so does who pressures and who covers, defenders need to be connected to not allow themselves to get split, communication

Pressure-Cover-Support (10 mins)

Pressure-Cover-Balance - 4 players (adjust this number if necessary) pass the ball back and forth (can miss players out). The 3 defenders shadow the balls movement and apply pressure. The defenders do not attempt to win the ball, but simply move to apply pressure, cover and balance.

Coaching Points - Pressure-cover-balance, players move as the ball is in transition, body position to force the play back into support, dropping back to provide cover and balance after the ball has moved, communication

Soccer Tennis (25 mins)

Soccer Tennis - 3 zones, 3 teams. The 2 teams on the outside have a 2 touch max and can pass amongst themselves as much as needed until they have the opportunity to pass the ball across to the team on the far side. Defending team in the middle section move with the ball movement and try to intercept the ball going across. Defenders get a goal for every interception, attacking teams get a goal for every successful pass across the zones. Play for 3 minutes then switch the defending team.

Progressions - 1 of the defenders can go into the end zone and pressure the ball.
