Warm-up (5 mins)

Set - up

- Minimum 5 players. Max unlimited as more areas can be set-up.

- 3 mannequins set in a "V" shape, with a distance of 12 yards between them. And a gate, creating the Y, from which each sequence starts from

- Players follow there pass

- Sequence 1, ball is played to central player, who breaks the line to create a angle to pass diagonal

- Sequence 2, goes in opposite direction

Sequence One & Two are shown.

Key Points

- Weight & Accuracy of pass. Is ball played to the recievers back foot?

- Movement away from defender to recieve the ball on back foot.

- Triggers of movement,

- When? As the ball carrier opens up to recieve

- Where? Away from the marker into space

- Why? Look to lose the defender and create an angle for a pass

- How? Backwards movement, whilst keeping in view of ball carrier

- Communication

Technical Passing 1 (5 mins)

Progression 1

All players follow there pass

- Once central player (2) has played diagonal ball, he moves to support wide player (3). Wide player (3) sets him back and makes a sharp movement behind mannequin (defender) before playing ball back to the point (Player 1)

Sequence One & Two will follow the same pattern

Key points

- Central player moves to support early.

- Weight of pass from all players

- Body position and surface of foot to play passes

Technical Passing 2 (10 mins)

Progression 2

All Players follow there pass

 Player 2 know starts on the opposite side of mannequin, although the he will still play the ball to Player 3.

- Player 1 plays ball into Player 2, who sets back to Player 1.

- Player 2 then makes a quick movement around mannequin to recieve on back foot.

- The sequenece then follows progression 1.

 Key Points

- Communication

- Quick movement from Player 2

- Weight of pass

- Is ball played to Player 2's back foot from Player 1, as to minimize touches from Player 2

Challenges

- Can the passing sequance be done in 10 touches or less.

- Can it be done in under 12 seconds

Technical Passing 3 (10 mins)

Progression 3

All players follow there pass

- Sequence follows the same path until player 3 recieves the ball from a one-two

- Player 3 then plays a one-two with Player 2

- Player 3 then sets Player 1

Key Points

- Quick movement from Players 1, 2 & 3 to allow passing sequence to continue fluently

- Weight and accuracy of passes

- Do Players break the line to create angles to make a pass

Challenges

- Can the sequence be completed in less than 12 touches

- Can the sequence be completed in less than 14 seconds

MDG (25 mins)

Set up

Size of area, and number of players can be adjusted to suit.

4 v 4 + 4

Team in possession must attemprt to pass to there team mates on the outside. When a successful pass is completed, the player on the outside brings the ball back into play and the player who made the pass goes on the outside.

Progression 1

- Player must complete a wall pass (as shown) before they swap positions

Progression 2

- Players perform a wall pass to allow the ouside player to come inside. Player who made the pass stays inside to create a 5 v 4 overload. Once possession is lost the player originally in the middle goes outside to create a 4 v 4 again.

Key Points

- Do the team in possession look to create space for the ball carrier pass to the outside, by not running across a positive pass.

Challenges

- Can a team keep possession and complete 4 wall passes, so all the players who start in the middle finish on the outside

- Can one team keep possession long enough to achieve a 8 v 4 overload.

Cool down (5 mins)

Players perform 1 minute of light jogs

Then 3 minutes of stretches (dynamic & static)

Then another 1 minute of jogs
