4) 2 touch passing 15 yards away, strike the ball with the sweet spot. (let them make mistakes for first minute, make observations and correct the proper technique)

Crossing & Finishing w/ Pressure (15 mins)

Crossing and Finishing Progression:

1) A takes diagonal touch and finishes on goal while C is the chaser and provides pressure on shooter without winning the ball.

2) B takes a diagonal touch down the line and plays 2v1 (A+B vs C). A looks to get open while C is trying to prevent B from penetrating towards goal and preventing pass to A.

(Purpose is not for defender to keep winning, need to teach decision making for players on the ball)

Rotation: A > B > C

3) Switch servers

Coaching Points: Decision making, timing of runs, crossing and finishing

Set-up: two teams switch after 5 minutes.

Defenders play ball out and defend vs 3 attackers.

Have the central player stay central and always provide support to two attackers. Attackers try and find gaps to make runs in behind with bending runs or peeling off and making field big by getting wide.

Coaching Points: Focus on principles of attack: team shape, width, depth, support, mobility (movement off the ball), penetration (pass, dribble, or shoot).

7v7 grid size: 40 x 60

9v9 or 11v11 in 45 x 70 yards.

- 6 seconds to win it back

Coaching points: *****LET THEM PLAY!!!! DONT STOP IT EVERY TWO SECONDS AND DONT OVER COACH. LET THEM PLAY AND MAKE ONE OR TWO FREEZES. COACH IN THE FLOW AND IN NATURAL STOPPAGES!!!!!!

#1: Role of the Goal Keeper: keepers should learn how to support the back line in possession, how to distribute and be the first line of attack instead of just punt the ball long. Keepers need to learn to pass the ball on goal kicks rather than just kick it long.

#4&5: Role of the Center Backs: The back line plays a vital role in possession. The defenders need to learn how to support the midfield in possession, how to make the field big and how to help relieve pressure. The defense also plays a crucial role in switching the point of attack.

#6 Role of the Defensive Midfield: the number 6 player dictates the rhythm of possession. He needs to learn how to support the attack from behind the ball.

#2&3 Role of the Wide Players: Players 2 & 3 provide width and penetration. They need to learn to stay wide and open body to the field and provide support to the midfielders.

#9 Role of the Center Forward: Player 9 provides depth and an outlet from high pressing opponents. She needs to learn to stretch the field and stay high and central and be available for the long pass option from the back.
