Intervals:
2 min games + 1 min rest x 5 games = 15 min
Setup:
4 quadrants as shown, each one is 15x15.
2 teams of 8 numbered 1-8
Activity:
Attacking team must complete 5 passes and then can switch to other grid.
1 point for each successful switch (switch plus 1 pass).
Defense scores by winning ball and dribbling/passing to maintain possession outside of grid.
Coaching Points:
~ When to switch (body position, play what you face, don't force it)
~ 1 or 2 touch
~ body shape (face the way you want to play)
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Intervals:
3 min work + 1 min rest x 4 games = 16 min
Setup:
30x25 grid with 4 corner areas
2 teams of 3 + 2 neutrals
(setup 2 grids; 8 players per grid)
Activity:
Team in possession scores a point each time they successfully get the ball from one corner to opposite diagonal corner.
Can pass into neutral to score (but neutral has to pass out).
If inside players score it can be on dribble or pass (and can dribble or pass out).
Coaching Points:
~ When ball is wide, need a #6 (low) and #10 (high) and #8 works in middle
~ Body shape: face the way you want to play
~ When ball is central, other two mids move relative to wide players (watch passing lanes)
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Intervals:
6 min work + 1 min rest x 3 games = 21 min
Setup:
3/4 field (60x70)
Wide gates setup as shown (nice and wide to play through)
2 teams setup in 1-3-3-1
Defenders locked in zone (3v3 in the midfield)
Activity:
Teams MUST go through a wide gate before going to goal.
Can dribble or pass ball through gate (onside applies though).
Defenders are stuck in Zone.
Attackers can go anywhere.
Coaching Points:
~ #2/3 providing width
~ #6 plays deeper (position to see ball and goal)
~ #8/10 position when ball is central
~ #8/10 position when ball is wide
~ Cues of when to penetrate (numbers even or up) vs. possess (switch play)
Progression:
+ Playing through a gate (in attacking half) is worth 1 point; 5 passes = 2 points; Scoring is worth 5 points. No longer forced to play through wide gate. Keep defenders in zones.
+ Keep point system, but let defenders move anywhere.
See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
1-3-3-1 vs. 1-3-3-1
Coaching Points:
~ positioning of 6/8/10
~ cues of penetrate vs possess
