Description

This drill is designed for younger players to learn to pass the ball and move into space. The space being the spare cone which naturally creates 'triangles'

This drill is to teach young players to move into space and always create passing 'triangles'

Equipment: 5m x 5m squares. 3 players and 1 ball per square area. In this example, I have used 3 squares, none of which are next to each other to avoid collisions (especially with younger children).

The aim is for players to stand at the corners of the square they are playing in. They pass the ball to each other, and after passing the ball, move to the spare cone in the corner of the square.

Key point: After the players get used to movement, progress to where they adjust their body shape to always look at the ball and not turn their back.

Blocked practice:

Here, players are put into pairs with a ball per pair. The players pass the ball back and forth. They can use either foot to pass, but must pass with the opposite foot to which they controlled the ball with.

Progressions:

The players waiting to receive the ball, have to firstly move quickly towards a cone either side of them, allowing the pass to come to them at an angle and not in a straight line.

The players move to one touch passing
