Warm up (15 mins)

Organization: 20x20 grid.

Instructions:

1) Game of foxes and farmers - no ball

2) Game of foxes and farmers - ball in hand

3) Game of foxes and farmers - ball on floor with feet.

4) Turns and ball mastery.

Coaching Points: Head up, move away from defenders/towards attackers.

Practice 1 (15 mins)

Organization: 4/5 players per team. 1 gate keeper.

Instructions: 1 gatekeeper behind the goalf for each team. All other players to attempt to pass ball into goal opposite them from behind their cone. If they do then they become another gatekeeper behind the goal. first team to finish wins.

Coaching Points: Introduction of driven pass technique.

Progressions: Teams move forward/back depending on success.

Practice 2 (15 mins)

Organization: 2 teams either side of grid 25x20 yards. 4 balls either side balanced as coconuts.

Instructions: Players must try and use the driven pass to knock the ball from the cone ont he other side of the grid. If you do then you get the ball and keep it on your side. First team to knock all 4 balls off wins.

Coaching Points: Driven pass technique. Head down, non-kicking foot in direction of pass, ankle locked, contact with middle of ball with the knuckle of the kicking foot, chin, knee toe in line, follow through with pass.

Progressions:

Make grid bigger/smaller.

Practice 3 (15 mins)

Organization: 2 Goals. 2 Groups of players. Every player has a ball. Coned area for attackers to cut into and also to house defenders in the later progressions.

Instructions:

1) Player dribbles to closest cone and cuts in. Takes a good touch to set themselves up for the shot. Aim for space between post and cone. Player then joins back of the opposite line. 1 point for middle of goal, 3 points for between post and cone.

2) Player runs to middle facing away from goal, gets a pass from coach and must turn using back foot and then pass ball into the goal with driven pass.

3) Progress to defender putting pressure on player shooting. Defender starts from side (A+B) and moves after first touch of attacker.

Coaching Points:

- Head up to observe the position of the goalkeeper, use of driven pass.

Progression:

1. Players switch sides in order to work both feet.

2. Passive then active defenders are introduced.

3) Give it a competetive element by counting successful goals at the end/first player to 5 etc

Organization: 30x30 field.

Instructions: 3v3. Can score in either of the 2 end goals.

Coaching Points: Can you look to use the pass to score?

Progressions: Free Play Game.

Organization: 6v6, 30x30.

Instructions: Play, but team must come up with a team shape first.
