First to 50 (Warm up) (15 mins)

Organization:

20x20 grid

Each player with a ball

Instructions:

Players begin by dribbling around the grid freely, getting lots of touches and using the whole space.

On coach's command of "First to 50" players must touch the ball 50 times as quickly as they can with a preiously defined surface of the foot (left foot inside, outside, sole etc.).

Players return to free dribble and await next command.

Coaching Points:

- Head up while dribbling.

- Close control when players are in a crowd, then attacking any open space with positive touches.

- Encourage toe touches.

- Always make sure players are doing the touches properly.

Cone Island (15 mins)

Organization:

- 25 x 25 yard area set up as shown

- Every player should have a ball.

- Set up an island of scattered cones in the very center of the grid.

Instructions:

-Players will start dribbling around the square grid going in and out of the cones.

-On Coach’s command, the players will now go directly towards the opposite side of the square forcing them to go through the island of cones.

-After reaching opposite side, they will continue dribbling in a zig zag motion around the grid.

Coaching Points:

- Using both feet to dribble

- Use multiple surfaces on the foot to dribble and keep control of the ball

- Close control when players are in a crowd, then attacking any open space

- Head up every few touch
