Screen 1

Organization: Set up field size based on age group, ability, and number players. The size of field shown is set up for a U13 team. Use four small 1 yard wide goals at near each corner of the field. Use a larger goal in the middle on each end line. Recommended number of players is from 3 v3 to 8 v 8. You can play with a nuetral if numbers are uneven. Can play with keepers if needed.

Instructions: Play to given goal or goals. Out of bounds-coach decision to play new ball in or use throw-in or pass-in.

Screen 2 (10 mins)

Organization: First part of SSG is to attack the larger goals.

Instructions: Play your chosen numbers. Divide into teams between 3 v 3 up to 8 v 8. Each team is to attack other goal and defend own goal. Use large goals in middle of end line. Play keepers if using full size goals. You decide restrictions of play.

Offensive Coaching Points: Can I score? Can someone else score? Can my team keep the ball?

Defensive Coaching Points: Immediate pressure to win ball back. Keep ball in front of me and my goal behind me. Cut out their options from going forward. Press when we can.

Screen 3 (10 mins)

Organization: Second section of SSG is to only attack the two small goals on the end line-teams can no longer score in the larger goals.

Instructions: Use the same players as first section. Teams attack the two small opposition goals on the end and defend their own small goals. Now this part of the SSG finds the players with a decision to make based on the player placement on the field. Goals count when ball is on the turf and does not hit a cone.

Offensive Coaching Points: Which goal do you attack? Find the goal where our numbers are up which will increase our chances to score. Play quick but patient to find the oppurtunity to break down their defense. Can I score? Can another player score? Can we keep the ball?

Defesive Caoching Points: We must force play to only goal be proper player placement and work hard to win the ball back. First player applies pressure and then everyone else stacks in to provide balanced cover.

Instructions: One team is only allowed to score in the large goal and the other is only allowed to score in the two small goals. Switch roles after a short time.

Coaching Points: Quick pace. Create oppurtunites with ball movement and runs for scoring chances. Find a way in and when the options are limited, relieve pressure by playing into negative space and starting over. Relax when you have the ball.
