Main Theme 1 (10 mins)

Organization:

1. 20x10 grid set up as shown

2. 20x5 grid for every three players

3. Three balls per group of players

Instructions:

1. Player 1 strikes the ball on the groupd with their laces to Player 2 then follows their ball.

2. Player 2 receives the ball, takes a set up touch and strikes the ball to Player 3 then follows their pass.

3. Player 3 receives the ball, takes a set up touch and strikes the ball to Player 1 then follows their pass.

4. Rotation continue for 3 minutes with players using dominate foot

Coaching Points:

1. Angle of approach – off center

2. Head down at the point of contact

3. Non-kicking foot placed to side, slightly behind the ball

4. Ankle locked, toe down

5. Contact ball – will vary depending on target area

6. Contact foot – laces (instep)

7. Body weight forward, chest and knee over the ball at contact

8. Follow through landing on striking foot

Main Theme 2 (10 mins)

Organization:

1. 20x5 grid for every three players

3. Two balls per group of players

Instructions:

1. One player will stand in the middle of the grid between the yellow cones and act as a goal keeper.

2. Player 1 will strike the ball and attempt to play across to teammate and beat player in the middle.

3. Every ball made through is a point for the player who kicked it, every ball stopped by the player in the middle or hit wide of the yellow cones is a point for the player in the middle.

4. The ball must stay below the knees of the player acting as keeper.

5. Each round lasts for 3 minutes. Players switch out of middle at the end of each round.

Coaching Points:

1. Angle of approach – off center

2. Head up to observe the position of the goalkeeper

3. Head down at the point of contact

4. Non-kicking foot placed to side, slightly behind the ball

5. Ankle locked, toe down

6. Contact ball – will vary depending on target area

7. Contact foot – laces (instep)

8. Body weight forward, chest and knee over the ball at contact

9. Follow through landing on striking foot
