Screen 1 (15 mins)

Wing play/conditioning

Setup

1. Size - half pitch, 18yard box width

2. 2 goals, 4 Maniquins

3. 2 GK + 2 FB + 2 WING + 2 CM + 2 ST

Objective of session is to create match situations and achieve somatic feelings within in various positions when attacking and playing in wide areas.

Play

Ball starts with player 1(fb). 1 passes to 2(wg) p2 beats the maniquinn with dribble/skill and whips a cross in for ST to finish or goal keeper to collect. After p2 crosses he switches postions with p1with a sprint which will mimick transition from attack to defence.

After GK saves or ST scores play continues from GK or coach (keep play flowing) to p3 where the play replicates the opposite side. If ST misses target he gets the ball

Progression

1. Change direction of play

Key Points

1. Apply realism to the exercise, receiving wide players start at maniquins and drop of and away to create space to receive ball.

2. Open body and receive with back foot

3. First touch out of feet, head up

4. Crisp firm passing,

5. Crosses whipped with pace, vary them, some high some low, etc.

6. Starts slow but then needs to pick upto match pace. (Realisim)

7. Antipication and reading the movements of play is vital

Screen 2 (15 mins)

Progressions

1. Use the CM p5 and p6 as a bouncer/support player with FB or WG

Play

Ball starts with player 1(fb). 1 passes to 5(CM) who can pass to p2 who can beats the maniquinn with dribble/skill and whips a cross in for ST to finish or goal keeper to collect. After p2 crosses he switches postions with p1.

After GK saves or ST scores play continues from GK or coach (keep play flowing) to p3 where the play replicates the opposite side.

Progression Plays

2. CM plays through ball in behind FB maniquin

3. CM combines with WG for a one two in behind the FB maniquin

4. CM p6 ( ie, highest midfielder) joins in with striker to attack the goal from cross in

5. FB overlaps

6. Let the players be creative and create their own play (using any of the plays)

7. Change direction of play

Screen 3 (15 mins)

Setup

1. Same as before but with the addition of 2CB

Progression

1. Wingers traveling inside the FB maniquin to create space for the FB to exploit/attack,Use the CM p5 and p6 as a bouncer/support player.

Play

Ball starts with player 1(FB). WG triggers the move inside the FB maniquin, when triggered p1 passes to p5 which allows FB to travel higher up the pitch. p5 passes to p7 (CB) who passes to p1 who beats the maniquinn with dribble/skill and whips a cross in for ST + inverted winger P2 to finish. After p1 crosses he takes up p2 (WG) postion. p2 takes up p7 position and p7 takes p1 position.

After GK saves or goal scored play repeats from coach (keep play flowing) to p3 where the play replicates the opposite side.
