Learning Objectives

Technical Technical
Low center of gravity. Shape, always on toes.
Technical Tactical
Show player towards strenght
Technical Physical
Agile, balanced and low.
Technical Psychological
Where do we want the attacker to go?

Introduction of Body Position/Shape (10 mins)

Moving on from footskills, the girls will begin to try and take the ball past defenders. We are going to concentrate on how to defend.

The idea is that we start as PASSIVE and look at body shape to direct players. We then move this onto GAME REAL where the defenders are allowed to steal the ball should they believe they can. The ideal scenario is that we dont force contact, we force attackers out of play.

PROGRESSION

Take the middle line out and play the same game 2v2

Progression of Overload Defending (20 mins)

Moved on from last drill -2v1 and 2v2

This drill continues from the previous. We are looking at trying to encourage appropriate pressure and NOT DIVING IN.

The progression occurs as we take the second defender and make her run around a cone before supporting her partner. The aim for defender 1 is to hold off the attackers until defender 2 has time to return.

Game Real Overload Defending (20 mins)

We can move this on as much as we want to. Ideally we will und up having 4 v 5 (more attackers). It may be worth just looking at principles of defending untill we have the use of a full field.

Learning Objectives

Technical Technical
First touch on back foot.
Technical Physical
Strong, Get to the ball quick.

Sheilding (10 mins)

Complicated looking sheilding drill!

We are looking at encouraging the use of body position to protect the ball. Our progression is the time we force receiver to hold onto ball before passing to outlet player.

Rotation = Players stay in their own corners. WHEREVER THE BALL IS, THE OUTLET IS TO THE LEFT AND THE DEFENDER TO THE RIGHT. PASS STRAIGH ACROSS.

Scrimmage (15 mins)

If we have space maybe finish with a large scrimmage. Might be useful to see the girls play the game as close to real as possible,
