Organization:
- 30 x 25 yard area as shown
- Four defensive players ( the "back-four) are positioned as shown
- Set up four cones across the field as shown
Instructions:
- Plays begins with a pass to any of the " back-four
- Players must move the ball quickly and accurately accross the line at game-realistic speed
- Players must foucus on their shape as a "unit"
- Players must shift positiones as the ball moves
- Players do not need to the play directly next to them, they are encouarge to " miss out " players to increase the speed at which the ball travels across the the back-four
- Play is continuous for time or number or reps
Coaching Points:
- Establishing shape- half moon ( see curved positioning of back-four above )
- Speed of play - quick ball movement
- Skip pass - miss players out to increase speed of movement across the back-four
- Play the ball on ground
- Two touches maximum
- Communication at all times

Organization:
- Same setup as previous activity with the addition of 2 opponents as shown
Instructions:
- The " forwards " start the activity approximately 15 yards away and can challenge the ball after the first pass from the coach / player or server.
- The back-four must attemt to maintain possession through quick ball movement
- The back-four must avoid dropping to far back into their own back line
- Back-four must attempt to get the ball quickly from their defensive side of the field to the other area across the cones without the forwards gaining possession
- if the forwards gain possession they can " score " by dribbling the ball through the defensive back line
Coaching Points:
- Angles - show for the ball
- Distance of support
- Back-four must attempt to play out of the back while still offering cover and balance
- Quick ball movement - clean technique on the ball

Organization:
- 6 v 4 ( Goalie - Back-four - 1 central midfielder vs 2 forwads and, 2 central midfielders) as shown
- Coach supplies tha ball at half of the field
- Flags are used to create goals on the half of the field at opposite side of the field
Instructions:
- Play begins with a pass from the coach to the attacking team ( Blue )
- Attacking team must attempt to combine to create goal-scoring opportinities within 10 seconds.
- The back-four must attempt to regain possession and quickly play out from of the back
- The back-four can link up with their central midfielder if pressured by the forwards
- points are awarded for playing quickly through the gates on the half-way line or for releasing a full-back through the gates
* Offside is in effect to keep the activity realistic for the attacking team as well as the back four
Coaching Points:
- Hold the line - don't continue to drop off into 18 yards box
- Recognize when to link with the defensive midfielder if pressure by forwards
- Safaty and risk factors - don't take chances with risky passes in the back
- Tactical implication of technique when switching the ball - sharp accurate passing
- Width and depth

Organization:
- A 7 v 5 is organized on a half field as shown.
- Three midfielders and 2 forwards must now play agains the back-four and, 2 central midfielders
Instructions:
- As in the previous activity the back-four must attempt to prevent any goal scoring opportunities
- At the moment of gaining possession they must attempt to quickly play out of the back with purpose
- Throw-ins, goal-kicks and other restart situations are now included
- Points are awarded for succesfully playing through the gates/goal on the half-way line.
- Two points are awarded if a full-back can be released through either gate
Coaching Points:
- Midfielders must make space for the back-four - check away to create space first
- Utilize goal kicks, restart situations as other building opportunities
- On winning the ball quickly look for passing options
- Safety vs risky factor, if not sure play the ball down the channels to safety!
- If pressured by forwards - can the central midfielders be used as link players?

Organization:
- Players are organized in a 25 x 44 yards as shown.
- Supply of balls are placed on both sides of the area as shown
- Two target players ( black ) are positioned at opposite ends of the grid as shown
- Two support players ( black are positioned at sides of the grid as shown
Instructions:
- 4 v 4 + 3 ( 1 target player, 2 support players )
- Both teams compete for possession of the ball
- Maintain possession through good ball movement and movement "off " the ball
- The target players assigned for each team can get inside the grid for a "numbers up" situation for the team in possession when it's needed, then goes back out when the play it's done.
- Teams are awared points for 8 consecutives passes or for playing to the target player on the outside of the grid
