Warm Up 1v1 Transition (5 mins)

Description

Line A passes to Line B and runs to apply pressure. Player B dribbles towards Line A while Player A backs up as a passive defender. Player B passes to the next person in Line A and then becomes the defender.

Warm Up 2v1 Transition (10 mins)

Description

Combine adjacent groups to create a 2v1. Player A starts with the ball. He dribbles out and passes to Player B as soon as possible. As Player X closes him down, Player B gives the ball back to Player A and proceeds to sprint through the opposite (Red) gate. Player A passes to Player 1 and the transition begins...

Player Y instantly passes to Player X who has gotten wide. Player A is now the defending. Player Y sprints through the yellow gate and Player X passes to Player C and becomes the defender. Cycle repeats.

2v1+1 delayed (15 mins)

Phase 1

As the Red team goalkeepers plays the ball into Player 1 or 2, Defender B sprints to join the game, recovering to create a 2v2 if possible. The Red team must attack with speed in order to isolate Defender A.

Transition 3v2

Phase 2

After the 2v1 concludes with a shot, Player C immediately begins to dribble with speed towards the Red team goal. Players 1, 2, A and B must transition quickly in order to play out the 3v2 now in favor of the Blue team.

3v2 Quick Transistion (20 mins)

3v2 w/ Quick Transition

Red team attacks with 3 players against 2 Blue players. If blue team steals the ball/knocks it out of play or if red team gets a shot off, The red player who lost the ball or took the shot must step off with the blue defenders. 3 new blue players step on with a ball and attack the remaining red players on the field in a new 3 vs 2 scenario.

Coaching Points

- Can we catch the defenders sleeping on a quick transistion

- Can we use our goalie as an attacker to create a 4 v 2 situation

- Can we look to make penetrating runs to shift the defenders and open up spaces on the field

- Creative dribbling

- When to pass
