Description

4-4-2 Diamond

Differences- key points

Back 4- bigger responsibility for full backs to provide width, quite often at the same time.

Screener/holding midfield to linked to defence and often plays behind the ball.

Wide players now play in field by leaving space on outside for full backs to move into from deep.

Advanced midfield player are responsible to link with front 2, by provide penetration with passes/dribbles/shooting in the final third

Strikers paly together and at times apart, looking for the balls down the side between centre half/full back.

For this system to work , player on top of the diamond is very important, and all midfield players have to be comfortable with the ball
