Tom&Jerry - 1 (5 mins)

Organization:

1.30 x 30 yard area set up as shown

2.3x3x3 yard triangles (Mouse Holes) set up throughout area

3.Half of players start in triangle l

4.Half of the players in area

5. All Players (Jerry's) have a pinny hanging out their shorts to represent a tail

Description:

1.Players have to avoid losing their tail. You can lose your tail if Tom comes to eat (take out of shorts) it before you get into a mouse hole

2.Once inside a mouse hole you are safe from Tom's paws.

3. Only one Jerry can be in a Mouse Hole at anyone one time.

4. If you are accupying a mouse hole and another Jerry runs into your Hole you MUST leave that hole IMMEDIATELY or risk losing your tail.

P.S. When leaving the Hole you cannot leave the through the same side that another mouse enters from

5. Game ends when Tom collects all the Tails or if the kids get too tired.

Coaching Points:

1.Head up to observe open mouse in mouse hole

2.Communication between players

3.Acceleration into and out of the mouse hole

4.Change of direction when being chased by Tom to avoid losing tail

5.Head up to observe next action

Progression:

1.R - Ball cannot leave the same side of the square it entered from

2.R - Add a roaming defender that must prevent passes into the squares

Organization:

6. Tom starts the game inside his liter box

Description:

Dribbling - MINI KICKS - Bank Robbers

Organisation:

30x40 area with 4 5x5 squares in each corner.

Instructions:

Once all the balls have been retrieved from the middle and brought back to the corners, on coach command, teams have 1 minute to go "rob" the other corners to try to get more balls into their corner. Players can opt to go steal balls, or they can choose to defend their bank.

Progression: Prohibit players from staying inside their own corner.

Regression: Allow players to stay inside their own corner.

Competitive: How many can your team steal (defend)?

Coaching points:

Outside (pinky-toe) for close control.

Laces for fast, longer distance dribbling.

Heads up to locate players coming to steal.

Head up to locate players trying to defend while stealing.

Organization:

20x30 players are placed on one side of the grid

Instructions:

players are instructed to run without ball to other side without ball, avoiding the cannon balls that are being played through grid by coach. If player is struck by ball they join the coach as a cannonballer. The last players remaining win game.

Capture the Flag (II)

Organization:

20 x 30 yard are set up as shown

2 groups of 5 players

Description:

1.The group is divided into two teams

2.Each team chooses their own team name

3.Games starts, each team must cross to the other side of the field to capture a ball

4.If player is tagged before making it inside the box with the balls, they must return home

5.If player makes it into the box, they are safe until they leave the box with the ball

6.Player must try to bring the ball back to their home before getting tagged; if tagged, they must replace the flag and return to their side empty handed and start again

7.If they make it to their side before getting the ball stolen, they are safe

8.Can only bring one ball back at a time

Coaching Points:

1.Head up to see defenders and open space

2.Find window of opportunity (when to go/when to wait)

3.Change of direction and speed

4.Agility and body control to avoid taggers

5.Keep the ball close
