Warmup - Receive on the half turn (10 mins)

Organization: 2 lines - Passing from ends to target player in the middle.

Instructions: Target player moves square to the passer and opens on the half turn, receives back foot and plays to next passer on opposite side. Follow your pass and repeat

Coaching Points:

Proper execution of technique

raise core body temperature

improve Movement off Ball, Awareness and communication (verbal and non-verbal)

prepare to play - using soccer movements

Progressions:

repeat in opposite direction - continuous

Limit touches to 2 - then 1.

Organization: 15x15 squares - balls placed in opposing corners

Instructions: Pattern of Play

Double Pass

Through Pass and Switch Point of Attack

Repeat other side (1-7)

Coaching Points:

Crisp passes to feet

Eye Contact - Verbal Communication

Movement off the ball - Open Passing Lanes

High Tempo of Exercise

Progressions:

A) Follow pass after Transition pass

B) Add Second ball at A & Z (Timing and Team Work)

C) add link pass through the middle (D-K)

Second Activity (20 mins)

Organization: 30 x 30 (cone gates inside (1 yd)

Gate Players act as target for Give n Go and Overlap

Working players pass and move - communicate "Again" or "Hold"

Instructions:

Pass Ball into Gate Player make run into space and request ball back (give n Go or Overlap)

Coaching Points:

Movement off Ball

Pace and Accuracy of Passes

Timing and Communication

communicate verbally and non-verbally.

2 minute and swap outside/inside players

Progressions:

Gate Player turns on command/Switch Positions

Play as teams - 1 & 2

Team 1 - Pass through gates = 1pt

Team 2 - Dribble through gates = 1 pt

SSG (30 mins)

Organization: End Zone Game (60 x 40)

Instructions: (Ball out - restart from that location - kick in)

Dribble into End Zone

Complete 5 passes to score point.

Keep Possession - but with a purpose to penetrate forward!

Score by penetrating on the dribble and/or with a passing

Coaching Points:

Create Space - Check Shoulder - Receive on the half turn/Side on/Back foot

"SEE the FIELD"

Lose defender, create space, Movement/check away/to the ball

Communicate verbal/non-verbal

play quickly - play accurately - play with passion!

Progressions:

Reverse: Dribble Cones and Pass into end zone

Create passing lanes

Play with pace and creativity

look to create numbers up situations

provide support at proper angles off the ball.

Instructions: Cool down and tehn debrief the activity of the day

Light jog/dribble/juggling in pairs

Add light stretching and aerobic activities to lower heart rate and return body temperature to normal levels

don't over exert

monitor body temp and heart rate/pulse

hydrate and stretch

focus on proper technique to avoid injury
