Warm Up

Organization :

1. 20 x 20 yard area set up as shown

2. 12 players set up as shown

3. 1 ball per player

Instructions:

1. Players have to knock out other player’s balls while keeping control of their own

2. If their ball is kicked out of the area they m ust dribble through any gate in order to re-enter the game

3. If a player loses control of their ball and dribbles outside the area they must again re-enter through a gate

4. Coach can specify a turn through the gate in order to re-enter the game

5. Play for a set time limit

Coaching Points:

1. Controlled approach

2. Appropriate turn to protect or change direction

3. Bend the knees to create a platform to accelerate

Progression /Regression :

1. P – Reduce the size of the area

2. P – Increase the num ber gates to re-enter or turn perform ed

3. R – Increase the size of the area

Main Activity 1

Organization:

20x20

Four lines: Two white, two Blue -

3 players per line

All Players with ball

Instructions:

1. On the coach’s instruction all players set off towards the center cone

2. As players come together in the middle of the area they must make an inside/outside turn and

return to the side that they started from

3. The object of the activity is to beat other teamates back to the start line.

4. Once White team is done, thats the cue for blue to work together

Coaching Points:

- Use Outside of foot to turn

- Use Pull back turn

- Use Inside of foot to cut in

Main Activity 2

Organization:

20x20

Four lines: Two white, two Blue -

3 players per line

All Players with ball

Instructions:

1. On the coach’s instruction players set off towards the opposite player

2. As players come together in the middle of the area they must make an inside turn around the opposite player and

return to the side that they departed from

3. The object of the activity is to beat your partner back to your start line.

4. Once White team is done, thats the cue for blue to work together

Coaching Points:

1. Controlled approach

2. Bend the knees at contact to accelerate away

3. Take aw ay the ball w ith the nearest foot surface

4. Positive touch out of your feet into attacking space to finish

Progressions:

1. P – Increase difficulty of turning actions – inside to outside

2. P – Two loops around partner to finish on opposite side

3. R – Switch partner for cone

Conditioned Game

Organization;

1. 40 x 40 yard area set up as show n

2. Four teams of 3

3. Many soccer balls

Instructions:

1. Teams attempt to score in one of their two designated goals

2. One team attempts to score in goals labeled (A) and the other in the goals labeled (B)

3. If the ball leaves the area the game is restarted

4. Play for a set time period

Coaching Points:

1. Controlled approach

2. Appropriate turn to protect or change direction

3. Bend the knees to create a platform to accelerate

4. Turn into space

5. Take away with the nearest foot and surface

6. Head up after turning for next action

Progressions:

1. P – A dd goalkeepers

2. P – 3v3 or 4v4
